We have a trip booked for 9/18, just around the corner. Due to unfortunate circumstances we will most likely not be able to go. It was just for a long weekend, 9/18-9/21. We did not opt to get the insurance which I am now kicking myself for. I called last week and was told if we couldn't go, we would lose $200 but be refunded the rest. (Our flights are separate, we didn't roll that into the universal package).

Do you think what I was told a week ago will be the same this week or does it change the closer we get, now being a week closer to leaving. I'm a bit anxious now and need to cancel ASAP but the offices are closed right now.

Has anyone done this? This close? Did you get your refund without the insurance and how long did it take for the funds to return?

Any helpful input is very appreciated.

since you opted out, you will have the $200 penalty to pay.

if you do room only, no package, and cancel 5 business days out, you will get a total refund.

if you have to cancel your package, call in the morning.


ask the TM when you call if refunds are issued as they are requested or by a specific billing cycle.


i have had refunds in the past and i usually see the credit card refund on my account within the 14 days.
the website states 2-3 weeks for refund credits.

hope you don't have any other losses other than the $200.

this is what i found on cancellation policies on packages.
looks like only the $200 will be your loss.

maybe you could ask to reschedule the package and ask if they will waive the cancellation fee??
