OK,I AM ASKING FOR MY FRIEND THAT HAS RCI AND WANTS TO GO TO DISNEY ,DO THEY GET THE DVC RATE FOR THE DINNING PLAN OR DO THE GET FREE DINNING WHEN THEY HAVE FREE DINNING TIMES?sHE IS ASKING ME ? I CAN'T ANSWER AND KNEW THAT SOMEONE ON HERE COULD

Technically, it is not the DVC rate it is the rate anyone can pay for the dining plan. Not sure if DVCers get a discount or not. I traded my RCI week resort for a week at BWV and we paid for the dining plan upon check in. Now, it needs to be paid with the reservation. You can look on allears.net for the price of the dining plan. Where does your friend own?

Last year we had no free dining and paid the same rate that was advertised. I think the only advantage is that our rooms are nicer and we are still eligible for the dining, it wasn't always so.

If they pay Disney directly with cash during a free dining period, odds are they will get free dining.

If they book a DVC reservation through Member Services or an RCI trade, no free dining. They pay the going rate and they pay when they add it to the reservation.

The reason I ask is that there is an exclusion area that prohibits you from even trading into DVC. I believe it is a 35 mile radius. It would also depend if they have weeks or points as they hold different trading power. If they have a weeks resort, they must own a red week as DVC is red all year.

If they trade in or rent someone's points, they cannot get "free" dining but can pay cash for it.

If they are looking for "free" dining; they must pay full rack rate for a room and include at least 2 day MYW tickets. "Free" dining is not always the most economical decision.

It's 30 miles, was 45 miles with II. But I don't believe there are any resorts that would fall between 30 & 45.

Wow I wonder if she knows any of this info I think she has weeks ,She isn't look for the free dinning that was more of my? She has no idea what she is doing and I thought I could help her out if I could but I don't know how the RCI stuff works

Dining doesn't do much good until/unless you get an exchange, no small task for many RCI exchangers. Once they get an exchange, then they can worry about the dining plan. The regional block is based on where their resorts are, not where they live. Do they own any RCI resorts in the Orlando area?

No they don't own in Orlando area,So RCI has a hard time getting rooms?and she wants to go durring spring break time ,is that just a dream for her?

Her property may not have good trading power.

If she is thinking spring break 2011, (and I suspect she is), it is probably already too late. Right now the "trailing edge" of DVC deposits is in late Mayish. We've already seen Feb-April come and go, I think.

RCI gets the rooms that DVC gets them and not that many members trade out. Plus they tend to give more lower demand weeks than higher demand weeks. As Brian said, this coming spring is very iffy for anyone and it's very possible they don't have enough trade power to be successful. They likely could get something decent in the area this spring though.
