I need to buy a new vacuum - it seems like an every 5 year thing for our family. I have had sears brand, bissell - they all start off very nice. I do know I want bagless - I am thinking of a taking the plunge for a Dyson - please give me your words of wisdom.

Thanks.:confused3:confused3:confused3

I will take a bagged vacuum over a bagless one any day. I have a bagged hoover windtunnel, It's heavy, it's loud, it's the best thing I ever bought. I don't go through bags that often and I've at times vacuumed every day. Trust me, I went through bagless vacuums 1-2x a year. I've not had any issues, not one with my hoover. I'm hooked. If this ever konks out, I'd try an oreck one.

Don't know about Dyson but I love my Miele upright. It was pricey but worth it. I much prefer a bagged vacuum, not pleasant to empty out the contents of a bagless one. I'm sure there are a lot of personal preferences here.

Good luck!:goodvibes

I have a Dyson and I HATE it. Did I mention that I hate it? It, how can I put this? it s_ _ _ s at sucking.......I am anxiously awaiting the day that it dies and I can get a new one.

Hmmm - spent an hour looking at reviews: I have narrowed it down to 3:

Hoover UH70015 Vacuum, Platinum Cyclonic Bagless Upright ($300)

or

Dyson DC33 Vacuum Cleaner, Multi-Floor ($300)

or

Bissell 89Q9 Vacuum, Lift Off Multi Cyclonic Pet ($180)

talk about budget busters!!!!

And I don't love it. It's small and easy to maneuver, but it is always breaking down. We did get the one with a 21 year warrenty so they always fix it, but it's a pain to be in the shop so frequenly. DS has a Dyson and loves it.

I have a Dyson Animal- we have several pets- and I would not trade it for the world! I was leary due to the price tag, but it is the best investment we could have made!I've had mine for about 10 years, now! It's bagless, and the filters simply wash clean, and are reusable. It is easy to use, easy to maintain, and you won't believe how much stuff it can suck out of a carpet! I'd say, "Go for it!"

I bought this one and love it as well! I was sick of trying to vacuum stairs with my heavy Eureka which kept clogging with dog hair. I got a great deal on mine last Black Friday at Kohls. It was on sale and I had Kohl's cash to use.:cloud9:

Have the Dyson Ball, it. The cord could be longer, but my house is not that big. I like bagless. Push one button and the container emptys into the trash. Easy to push and move. My kids fight over using it:rolleyes:

My cousin has a Dyson and she hates it. She needed to replace a part on it after a couple years, and the part was over $200!!! We have never paid more than $100 for a vac and they last us at least 5 years. Currently we have a Dirt Devil bag less bought at Wal Mart for $80. Glides across the floors on the lowest settings, 2 step filtration, super easy empty canister, 2 step filtration. I also vac daily and I think its nuts to spend $300 on a vac!

They are known to lose their suction. We had one, didn't have it t hat long for the price we paid for it. We have 3 dogs and 2 cats and had the animal one - never again. The one we have now is good but not great - this one is a bag one and one part in particular keeps breaking on it and supposedly they are having problems with it and are redesigning it. We will see. We just don't have good luck with vacuums. It also doesn't have any attachments, which stinks and is just a basic upright but was expensive again.

We bought the Dyson Animal DC28 last Christmas and love it. We have all sorts of floors in our house and it jus goes from one floor to the next without problems. We clean it regularly and so far no problems and it works great.

We have an oreck and love it!!! And I agree with another poster on here....I will take a bag over a bagless anyday!

I got a Dyson Animal 6 years ago. It was good on carpet for the first 2 years. Never liked the job it did on the tile floor. After 2.5 years the suction diminished ALOT. I would clean the filter every other use.

Last year it lost all suction completely. I dumped it and bought a Miele. The Meile was expensive, but well worth it. It is soooooo much better than the Dyson.

Good Luck with your decision.
