I am looking for guidance on our first Universal only Florida vacation. We spent 2 days at Universal Orlando/Island of Adventure back in 2011. At that time, I wasn’t much into thrill rides and we were not that versed on Harry Potter. From 2010 to 2015 inclusive, we have spent about 60 days at Disney so we thought we would try something different this year. We were also worried about the poor Canadian dollar so we cancelled Disney and started to look elsewhere for vacation options.

I got an amazing rate at Cabana Bay for 7 nights in a family suite. Air Transat had the room listed for $1450 Canadian but I called to check and they found me a rate of $950 CAD!! There are five of us travelling (3 adults and 2 10 year olds).

So now arrive Sunday at noon and leave the following Sunday morning. We want to schedule some relax time plus go see the Kennedy Space Centre. We will have a rental car.

I will be purchasing our park tickets through our local CAA because they deal in CAD. How many days should I book? How many days should we set aside to focus on the theme parks? I thought about the 14 day pass with admission to wet and wild just incase we want to pop in for time every day. But that may be over kill.

What do you all suggest? I can plan a Disney vacation with my eyes closed but I am really struggling with this trip. Maybe I am feeling disloyal to Disney. HAHA

I just bought my tickets and got the 14 day with WnWild and both park 2 park and paid $224 each compared to 3 day pass at $214 or so thought it was a no brainer as we can come and go as we please. Plus with staying there if you have longer ticket you can pop in at night to ride something, etc... Use middle of day to chill at pool when it gets crowded, go back to park at night, etc...

I'd go for the 14 day. Being able to come and go easily few hours in the park is a great bonus. We did 6 days universal parks last trip.

If you may be back then upgrading to an annual power pass usually costs very little. As far as I know you can't upgrade the tickets with wet and wild included.
We were able to upgrade a 14 day uk ticket to AP.

Take some time to make the most of the resort, my DD is 10 and loves the pools, bowling and s'mores at Cabana. I checked recently and they still have their bowl for $9 deal inc shoes weekdays 12-4 pm. The resort refill mugs includes coke freestyle and icees too.

The golf and dine deal deal at city walk is a good deal too, the haunted course is especially fun at night.

Link to my two trip reports, we stayed at cabana bay both times
