Need to vent about these codes

:( I'm sorry that your having so much trouble with your reservations. I ended up making mine through Priceline and paid WAY to much. So that upset me. But just think codes or no codes we're both going to have a wonderful time!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

My guess is they are constantly reviewing their inventories and deciding on discount availability. Time after time there have been posts where people could not get a discount but called back the next day or the next week and got it.

I'm not sure if its true that if people have a room booked with a discounted rate that it goes back to rack rate if you cancel. When I had originally booked my trip with the 5+2 package, I booked Lagoon view at the GF because there was no availability on Lodge concierge. Well, I called constantly and I finally got it booked with concierge after someone had cancelled. Well, now I have GF booked with an AP rate and again only lagoon view was available-no lodge concierge. So, now again I find myself calling all the time to check and see if I can get it. Hey, ya never know!

You make a good point. There is always talk of calling after the 14 day period for sending in deposit. Rooms that aren't available now always open up later as cancellations happen or deposits are not recieved.

Originally posted by chyam Well I do have a room but it is rack rate, and I will probably end up cancelling if I can't get a code somewhere somehow!

I only book a room that I am comfortable paying for should I not get a discount. Perhaps this would work for you as well?

I am sorry, but could you explain how your post about not booking what you can't afford helps in a thread dedicated to ranting about the lack of rates at Disney?

Now, could someone explain to me why Southwest is able to offer Disney rooms that Disney says it doesn't have???? I know they sell rooms in blocks but c'mon--what kinds of games is Disney playing?

Thank you and perhaps the previous poster did not read the whole thread.........I also said that maybe I can afford to pay rack and maybe I can't but the point being that there is no way possible that all these discounted rooms went within the first few minutes the codes came out............and after all don't we all want to save money......................Latest update, just booked the same dates on hotels.com at the Fall rate, just waiting for confimation........but it simply amazes me that we are able to do this....ie Southwest offer etc. You would think Disney would want to cut out the middle man and make all the money themselves, I still contend that they are getting a kickback from ATT to keep us on hold for hours....

Kickback? Or maybe it's just that there are THOUSANDS of people calling at 7am on the day a code comes out to make sure they are get their first choice.... it JUST may be that!

Answered immediately, some extremely nice male CM gave me the BAT code right off the bat, LOL, with no mucking around or hemming and hawing about "let me check availability..." wait -- wait -- wait. So it is mine, and thanks to your post I've saved $325. We were getting four cabin nights for over $1,000 and now they're like $740 or so. . . .

Congrats, jtjarvis! I've remembered your DIS handle ever since we first "chatted" over on the MNSSHP thread (on the parks board), and I'm thrilled to learn that a "buddy" has had success with getting a good deal from Disney! :sunny:

Of course, I'm thrilled for any of the DIS regulars who get great deals as well! Congrats to all of you lucky folks! :)

I didn't have the stomach to wait in torment for these codes, and I gave in and rented points (again) from a DVC member. I'm getting a good (actually great) deal, but I'm not staying at the WL as I had originally hoped. That's okay though . . . I'm allergic to evergreen/fir-type trees anyway. lol Seriously, we're now getting a really good deal on a BWV studio. Once again, we'll be able to walk through the "back door" of Epcot. This is really nice since the Food and Wine Festival will be happening during our stay, and we've never been before. We had already decided that the majority of our park touring will take place in Epcot, so it worked out well for us.

One of these days, however, I'm going to stay at the Wilderness Lodge come HECK or high water! ;) (Of course, I'll need to start my allergy shots WAY ahead of time.) :jester:

What is the basis for that statment? Does anyone know Disneys policy regarding the cancelation of Discount rooms? I would seem self defeating to them to have rooms cancelled and not filled because of the lack of discount. If they can fill rooms at rack rates more power to Disney, if not I'm sure they will increase discounts to try to fill them.

I asked a CM that question today and was told that discounted rates go back in as discounted rates.

Well, I just tried booking one of those rates offered by Southwest and can't do it. It gets to the last page and says "Communication with the hotel is down. Please try again later or try different dates or a different hotel".

So, who knows if they really have those rooms after all?

First of all, I've learned that every CM has a different story. That's why I'm not taking what any CM has to say as "law". I will still keep checking. However, I know for a fact that many many people who originally booked with AAA rate are now changing to the discount with the codes. I call about 5 times a day to see if any AAA ratesare freed up. Nope. No AAA rates. So what happened to them? You mean to tell me that for every person that cancels a AAA rate, there's another person that calls before me to book with a AAA rate???? I find that impossible to believe. That is why I think that what the CM told me is true. Unfortuately. But I will keep checking anyway!

I found a discount on AKL SV at www.disneyworld.com, so I called in and was told it was not available. I just booked it online and cancelled my other ressies.

Don't count on anything, I asked the same question yesterday and I was told the rooms go back to rack rate. So there you go, another inconsistancy............
just keep calling and use the 800 number. Until they cancel that too!

Hi Diane, good to hear from you as well! :jester: Thanks for your well-wishes. And that is very cool about your proximity to Epcot and F&W -- that will be a blast! I've never rented DVC points but sounds like there's lots of cool property out there.

Are you still going to mnsshp Oct. 8 or did that change somewhere in there? Couldn't remember...

And to keep to the thread -- has anyone been successful lately with the WDTC # 877-939-3732? I tell you, it sounded like a whole different ballgame with the codes there, and for the better.

I just tried 877-939-3732 with no luck. CM told me to keep trying back , maybe in 3 days, and in the am.
Who is he kidding? I am trying everyday until my trip!

Ditto for me. CM just told me I didn't to check everyday. Huh? I need to pick up three more BAT days. To save $300 more, I'm calling everyday.

Pixie dust to you guys!! :wizard: I am going to wager that your persistence will pay off!

I too was not able to get AP rate, BAT code or even AAA rate for Poly 1st week of Nov. Was talking to very nice CM. I told him other CMs told me to tryand call backand see if someone cancels. He says when someone cancels a discounted room, it goes back into the system at RACK RATE! If this is true, then all those people with multiple ressies at discounted rates are really messing us people up with no discounts. With that said, I will still keep checking.

I had a CM tell me that they go back into the discount pool. And since starting on Tuesday with AKL pool view, then day by day switching one day at a time, and finally getting all 4 days Savannah room, I have to believe that is true. How else would you explain a room NOT being available one day, then being available the next? I worked on this for 5 days, sometimes calling twice a day. I say, if you really want it, keep calling. You can't fault people for holding on to less than desirable rooms until they find what they really want.

The good news is that the phones have died down. Two of the times using the 877 #, it took me longer to go through the menu than the wait for a CM.

I'm thinking of calling them just to chat. After talking for 5 days, sometimes twice a day, I sorta miss them.. ;)

Linda -- first off, you saved me $325 this morning. No kidding -- last night I was so frustrated because the one day I don't check mousesavers first thing in the a.m., the fall codes are posted. Had AAA discount for FW cabin for months but was waiting for a better code. So it comes out, I try twice in a row regular Disney number, it's a no go.

I'm reading this thread this morning and commiserating. Then I read your thread. I'm about to leave the house for kid activities, I call the toll free which is WDTC I noticed. Answered immediately, some extremely nice male CM gave me the BAT code right off the bat, LOL, with no mucking around or hemming and hawing about "let me check availability..." wait -- wait -- wait. SO those trying for that BAT code should give the number above a try. The direct WDW line was a total brick wall to me and this was Open Sesame, at least this time!

So glad that you got your ressie, jt!! I saw your post on another thread about you gushing, and just checked back on this one..boy you weren't kidding!! ( I am a little humbled to have my name in a sentence so close to "God":o ) Well, anyway, if anything I posted helped out I am so thrilled..I can't claim any credit, I am a rookie to all this mayhem for discount codes. I used to just wait for them to come out in the Sunday paper. (Which by the way, they did come out today..5 days after I called in for my ressie..I wonder what's left by today??)

So about this WDTC, do you know anything about it?? Maybe there is A REASON we got through so easily, as in no one else WANTS to use it???

Are you sure we didn't just book ressies at a place called , "HisneyWorld", possible a new religious theme park, by mistake???

Or "MiseryWorld", where Kathy Bates chases you around with a syringe and a sledgehammer???

:teeth: Have a great trip!

LOL Linda, that's so funny -- great premise for a new thriller movie. "They wondered why they got in so easily... and then realized the horrible truth... Now they're going to have to find a way out!" Hahaha

No really, WDTC is Walt Disney Travel Company. It's totally legit, but a different arm from "central." From these boards, I learned a year or so ago how differently these two entities are trained. For instance, I was advised to always try to get to operators trained by "central" Disney reservations because cancellation policies and so on are less strict. You can cancel in a more reasonable period of time with central, but typically you have a two-week window if you want money back, when going through WDTC.

And sometimes, although I've inquired whether I was talking to "central," I've gotten my Disney ressie notices from WDTC, which obviously means I was booked through WDTC instead. I honestly don't know why there are two different organizations involved with this, but apparently they differ too as to how many "code rooms" they release. It's possible they're each allocated some, but the direct WDW line is far busier. That's the only explanation I can come up with.

Maybe WDTC is like using an agent. We lucked up, is all I can say!

...or did we??? hahaha
