need to talk to people who don't think i'm nuts!!!

WHY WAIT!!!!!!!! I just tell non Disney Lovers that who knows what the future holds we could all be gone before the kids are "old enough". when life throws enough crap at you, you learn to live life now. This is mo don't want a debate. princess:

my dh and I agree. We have changed our family plans quite a bit since 9/11. We now take a yearly vacation whereas before we didn't vacation much at all. time together is never a bad idea especally when we share it with a mouse named MICKEY.

 :wave2: princess: princess:

I get the same reaction!!! You're going again? Why would you want to do that? Haven't you already seen everything? Aren't you bored with it? And on and on. Meanwhile, these same people take vacations every year and just lie on a beach somewhere for a week. BOOORING! And if I wanted to that I could do it at Disney! For a family vacation, every family member can enjoy, nothing beats Disney (and Universal Studios comes a close second). I foolishely waited until I thought my DS was old enough to remember it...at the age of 9, well guess what...he doesn't remember!!! But I do, the first time we walked into the Magic Kingdom, the first time on his now favourite rides, the whole trip was magical! I plan on taking DD to WDW before she's 2 because I know how much I will enjoy seeing her reactions.

I'm the Disney Freak at work. Nobody gets it, but I know you all do ::yes::

I hear you all. With all of the awful things going on in the world nowadays (both natural and unnatural disasters), I'm not waiting for anything. I remember thinking several months after 9/11, "Oh my god, what if they go after WDW and my kids were never able to experience it?" We've been twice since then, and they're under 4. WDW is a different experience at each age. Why not not enjoy each and every "different" experience?

Hello fellow addicts!!!

This is the second thread TODAY about being happily addicted! (See TP&A board!) My suggestion over there was a 12-step program. Meetings to be held at the Adventurer's Club, of course!!!

I, too, live through the "AGAIN" and the "when the kids are older" comments. I also get the "it's so expensive" comment not yet mentioned! They laugh, they make fun, they talk about us behind our backs. But as soon as they need vacation planning help of any kind whatsoever, it's "Paaatttttttiiii, could you help us with this. You are sooooooo good at it." I think I will now require payment from these people, in the form of Disney Dollars just to rub it in!!! LOL!!!!

Our addiction is a heck of a lot healthier than the ones I see every day, let me tell you!

when the kids are bigger --- when they can really enjoy it ------ when they can really remember that they went etc etc etc.

My DS, who is now six, went to Disney for the first time when he was 2 for a day at the MK. He went on the teacups with his uncle three times in a row. We went to the world last september again. The first thing he said when we walked into the MK was "Can I go on the teacups again, Mommy?"

Needless to say, kids remember stuff no matter what age they are.

AND....As the cab pulled away from the curb of the POP last September, I was starting to plan for our next trip. Hopefully this December! :cheer2:

DH and I are seniors - our kids are grown and we have 6 grandkids. The older we get, the more we love WDW - with and without kids! We used to take annual road trips throughout the states every year. Now? We TALK about road trips, but wind up at WDW instead! The heck with what anyone says...if they don't like our plans, welp, that's just too darn bad, we're headed to MCO - again! (oh, and btw, when we don't have a specific trip date, I'm still planning here on the DIS!)

I cetainly understand! We love Disney! The kids call it the Happiest Place on Earth!

oh count my family in....lets see...we went in feb or last year...then december now me and hubby are leaving in just a few weeks....then we are going in october as a family.....son is 5 in a few weeks..daughter is 7...and they love it....everyone we know thinks were crazy...we dont care....my mom lives in florida...she doesnt get it either....i got hit at the age of thirty...almost 2 years ago with this very rare disease called mineres disease...and i tell you what...i know live for every day....i will go as many times as i can....and i will go when i want....i am on cloud nine :cloud9: at disney....as i try to explain to my friends...its like your in a different place..not the real world there....makes you get a warm feeling just thinking about it.. :earboy2:

It's funny....my ex-dh seriously thought I needed counseling for what he called my "obsession". What an idiot! What I needed was more Disney and less him! LOL...

Anyway, I agree. I have maybe 2 work friends and my DH that I can share my love of all things "eared" , anybody else I say nothing. And DNph-14, except that talking Ears with him usually is a blatant "hint" for us to plan a trip together! I just get tired of the eye-rolling and smart-aleck remarks about why don't we go to a grown-up place? They just don't get it. :earboy2:

I'm amazed that anyone feels the need or right to comment on anyone else's vacation plans. I know many people who go places that I never plan to visit but I don't see that as some kind of character flaw. I personally HATE CAMPING but it's perfectly fine with me that others camp several times a year.
I find that many of my friends and family don't really vacation much at all and seem somewhat jealous of my constant vacation planning (we go somewhere every year- Disney only every few years). I avoid talking about my plans for all my trips. I don't judge them though- some people like big cars and houses I happen to like vacations. It is interesting though that the otherwise uninterested, judgemental people are the first to call me for advice when they decide to go on vacation.
Thank goodness we all enjoy different things because some of my favorite places are pretty crowded already!

I Love this board. I am a single mom DD(8) dS (5). we went away for 2 weeks in dec (universal, WDW and the wonder). people thought I was nuts for doing that. BUT... when they found out i was returning in oct wow.. they really think I have lost it. I just have to take my kids to MNNSHP.. I love Halloween and Disney. What can be better?
So.. out of school (no debates please).. hop on a plane and away we go..
so I'll bring the coffee to a disney annoynomous club..
Valerie

We went four times last year, 2 short long weekend trips and two 7 days trips.... Whenever I put in a vacation slip for work the scheduling person asks...Going to Disney again???....Love, love it, love it...

When I moved down to Atlanta I figured I'd keep my obsession to myself... My relatives seem to only do Disney in conjunction with school trips. I was surprised to find out my second cousin-in-law took my third cousins to Disney over Christmas (what can I say its a big family...the translation of the cousins is that my cousin's son's wife took their kids but he had to work). The only explanation for such strange behaviour is that she isn't my relative!!! None of the rest of them would have ever thought to go at Christmas...and certainly not the way I'm doing it...without kids and alone.

i just want to confess- MY FAMILY LOVES  DISNEY -----
just wanted to say that to people :grouphug: who understand!!!!

Us too! :wave2:
And we DO understand!!! ::yes::

We just got back from DL in Dec. We were also there in April of '04.

We were talking about the next trip while we were still there!

There have been constant conversations about when we can go back. Even though I've told my DM that we cannot travel this year (2005), there's still more talk about it. I sooo wish we could go back this year, but we have too many household projects to complete.

My DH knows I want to take DS to WDW before he starts kindergarten in 2006. I have put the bug in his ear...we'll see what happens... :bitelip:

Last week I was watching the old WDW planning video. My DH came by, stopped and watched and said, "Are you planning your next trip?" Little does he know I'm trying to use the power of suggestion (and guilt) on him. ;)

Like I said, we'll see what happens... princess:

I think you hit the nail on the head! Dh and I go somewhere (Disney, the beach, etc.) about one weekend per month. We work hard and we believe in playing hard, too! We prefer spending money on vacations/fun times together rather than on expensive cars or a big house or new furniture. That's hard for some people to understand and yes, I do think some people are envious! Plus DH and I really enjoy each other's company, and I wonder sometimes if people are a little envious of that, too! :earboy2:

Hi, my name is bridgettesmom and I am a Disney addict  . I used to go once a year, when I joined this board and learned about MNSSHP, MVMCP, world showcase restaurants, Illuminations cruise, Segway tour,etc..I started to go 3 times a year.. you get the point right .. the more you know, the more you want to go. Last October, we decided we would take two years off, have a baby and return in 2006. Well, guess who went to MVMCP last December and who is planning a spur of the moment trip before March. I can't help myself!! Even DH (who is always amazed at my Disney knowledge) mentioned that he would like to go back to try the Richard Perry experience. Whenever someone from work is planning a trip to Disney I have to stop myself from sharing my knowledge, because, they look at me like I am a freak. I only give them a few pointers and believe me thanks to me they have saved a lot of $$ and learned a lot. One of them, even mentioned that she told her husband that next time they go they have to buy a Fast pass..I almost fainted when she said that and I told her that it was free and anyone can use it :sad2: Who's the freak now?? LOL

Is something supposed to be wrong with going to DisneyWorld often? For every vacation? Why tamper with success? How often is it that you find a safe, fun, friendly vacation spot that has so much to offer? Sports, Sand & Sun, Great Food, Spas, and oh yeah...theme parks!
