hi we just got back from disney in december and we were there the also in feb.
me , my husband, son 9, daughter 7, daughter 3 - all walk around wanting to know when can we go back- my son told me the other day how much he misses disney :guilty: - and my 3 yr old hoped into bed with us the other morning saying " we go to disney soon, right"

we were at a get together with a bunch of our friends today- and we casually mentioned how we couldn't wait to go back to disney-
the shocked look we got- you'd think we had anounced that we had murdered someone!!!!

now these friends know we are disneyholics :flower1: and some even what to take a trip with us someday!!! when the kids are bigger --- when they can really enjoy it ------ when they can really remember that they went etc etc etc.

i just want to confess- MY FAMILY LOVES  DISNEY -----
just wanted to say that to people :grouphug: who understand!!!!

Oh boy, I do understand, I get those weird looks too!!!! They always say "You're going again???" To which I happily reply "YES!!"

I had to laugh at that. Since when should we only do fun things when the kids are old enough to remember? In that scenerio, kids under 3 wouldn't go trick or treating, wouldn't visit grandma...well, you get the picture.

We always loved watching our kids enjoy the moment..at the time is was happening. Our soon to be 29 year old, doesn't remember falling asleep after a day at Magic Kingdom while standing at a table in Trail's End, nor does he remember the "stranger" at Trail's End who gave him the Mickey Mouse flashlight he woke up with in the morning, but he never tires of hearing all the rest of us tell him the story. He doesn't remember Mickey Mouse standing next to him while we took his picture, but he always enjoyed seeing the picture.

I can't imagine missing all those special, fun times, just because they were to little to remember it later.

Let's see -
family trip Feb 2004
Solo trip August 2004
currently going through withdrawl
DD and I Feb 2005
Magical Gathering April 2005
Solo Trip August 2005
Family Trip November 2005
Family Trip February 2006

Sorry can't relate :smooth: :smooth: you'll have to look elsewhere for support!

BTW, I have brainwashed my nieces and nephews well enough that my 2 1/2 yo nephew gets on the phone and says "you take me to see JoJo and Mickey Aunt Sandy" all the time. And my niece (other family) in her prayers had her Dad ROFL as they did God Bless, following Mommy and Daddy came "Disney"

Go for it and the heck with the rest of them, plan away!

Sandy

You have to be able to express sincere shock when they are going to the beach or an around the world trip "AGAIN!!!!". They don't realize they do the same thing.

I totally understand what you mean! I can't wait to go back! Disney is in my dreams at night and in my thoughts during the day! We went last April/May and I am so ready to go again! Financially we have to wait though. :guilty: But in the mean time I am doing anything and everything to save every little penny we can to pay bills off and save for our vacation! I am starting to scrapbook our last trip so I can relive it a little too!

Both of my boys (9 and 4) love Disney and always will. We are a Disney family! We just ARE! My oldest has already been 4 times in his short life! :earboy2:

I've had people say that to me too "when they are older and can remember it"! I think the opposite! I want to go when they are young so I can see them and take pictures and have many, many memories! In fact, I almost panic to think they are getting older! haha!

Just smile because you know what..... they don't understand the magic, the way it feels when you first walk into a park, smell the scents of main street, walk into your room to find a fun towel animal, see the fireworks in the shape of Mickey mouse heads, or feel like everything else in your life doesn't matter because you're at Disney! We love it!!

:cool1:

Boy, can I relate! We constantly get the rolled eyes and, "Disney, again?" comments. DH, DD, and I love Disney and usually go several times a year. You'd think we'd get tired of it, but at Disney you're a million miles away from the real world, how can that ever get old?

As for waiting til the kids are 'old enough', we've taken our DD at least once a year since her first birthday. She may not remember it, but we sure do! DH & I loved taking her there, loved being there with her. And now DD really enjoys going through photo albums and looking at the pictures of herself at WDW when she was a baby, a toddler, a preschooler, and so on.

Enjoy your time at Disney and the memories you're making! :flower1:

That's so funny you say this because this morning at church during our Sunday School class I was telling a friend of mine that we would be able to see her DD and DSIL (they just moved to Orlando and it was a huge deal for the family) in May b/c we were going to WDW.

The person sitting next to me just said "Again!! Don't you guys go like every other month or something...."

I was a little embarassed....but I was like "yeah - we just love it - I'm totally addicted!"

I feel your pain!!

my husband has been every year (usually more than once), since the park opened. :flower1:

::yes::

A co-worker a few years ago was telling me of their summer disney trip & that they didn't get to do much since it was TOO HOT & TOO CROWDED. That they didn't plan on going back to disney this was their 2nd trip in 10 yrs & they just didn't care very much for it. Kids were now grown and didn't like it either. When i said that there is ways around the crowds & heat & asked if they had used fast pass or the singles line etc. he replied...Well we don't really want to go to the same place every year.

I tried to hide my shock since this was coming from a person who had been to vegas every year for the last 8 yrs straight, and was planning on 2 trips to vegas in the same year.

Yep, I get the rolled eyes all the time. My boss has finally realized that if I have a vacation day scheduled, then I'm going to Disney. She doesn't ask IF I'm going anymore, she just asks which coast.

I know exactly what you all mean!! My family and the people I work with always say "AGAIN"!!! And yet I watch them repeat the same stuff in their lives on a regular basis. I would never ....... but others feel they have the right. My son and I have gotten to the point that we don't say anything anymore. When it comes time for us to leave and we are asked I ususally make something up. You should see me at work knowing where I am going but I don't say a word - or when I get back. I hate secrets but - oh well!! :cool1:

We've only been once, but have talked about it ever since and have been planning since before we left the parks!!! People think we are "wasting our $$" but I really don't care. Let them stay home, more room for us in the parks and resorts! My friends actually call me the "Disney Freak".... I take it as a compliment. :earboy2:

The children have been told there will be no WDW this year b/c WE'RE GOING TO ITALY FOR TWO WEEKS!

DH does not want to hear about visiting the Mouse b/c WE'RE GOING TO ITALY FOR TWO WEEKS!

DD14 just ask me (not 5 minutes ago) if there's some way that we can go to WDW even though WE'RE GOING TO ITALY FOR TWO WEEKS!

When I mentioned the possibility of a short mother-son trip to DS12 on Saturday, he told me that he wanted to go to WDW, even though WE'RE GOING TO ITALY FOR TWO WEEKS in July!

Please note countdown.

I know exactly what you mean. The "when they are old enough" really bugs me too. I explain that I don't remember much of before I was 10 yrs old so is it a waste to take them to the movies, zoo, other vacations etc? I also explain that when my DH & I are old & wrinkled, those special memories of my kids at that magical stage in their lives at WDW will be the things that put a smile on my face. Funny thing is that we convinced 2 other families to go a couple of years ago & now they may be even more hooked than us. I love it when new people finally "get it"!!!

I know exactly what you mean! Honestly, we never expected to get hooked on WDW the way we did but it just happened. Since we finally figured out we'll be going at least once a year we joined the DVC. We haven't broken that news to anyone yet...I can just imagine what kind of reaction we'll get to THAT!!!

:cloud9: Have a couple of friends with whom I share my love for WDW, and we all enjoy the planning. We all do 1 big trip a year, and perhaps a small one too. Our other friends look at us, "Your going again? I don't want to hear about it. "

I think it is so vital for families to get away together and have fun. Poss. they think "again" because they don't realize how to do it for less. Perhaps they just know Full rack rates, full price passes etc. I know my sister paid top dollar for her trip...no wonder why she considers it a once-in-a-lifetime-trip. :earseek:

Glad that we all know better :wizard:

I can def relate. My friends think we are nuts for going every year. Wait till they find out that we just bought AP's are are planning three trips between May 05 & May 06. My question is this. What about all those people who go on a cruise every year. Samething right. Right. I rest my case. If other don't want to here about our addiction that is okay with me because I will always have the diser's. Thanks to you all for always being there to help keep the excitment level there.

 :wave2: princess: princess:

I have co workers who go to Las Vegas all the time. As a matter of fact, they go so often and spend so much money that they never have to pay for a room. This are the same people who curl their lips and turn up their noses at our going to WDW and belonging to DVC. Interesting people these. Going to Las Vegas from Feb 8-Feb 15 (I don't understand the midweek departure, either). They have a 2 1/2 yo son who: 1.isn't going on vacation with them. 2. is "too young" to take to WDW. Mom is pregnant again. I guess that they will wait to go until the one in utero is "old enough". By the time the younger is "old enough", I wonder the older will be "too old". I guess some people aren't much into sharing vacations with their kids. But, not wanting to share time with their kids isn't keeping them from reproducing, obviously.

My own dear MOTHER rolls her eyes at us. She hates when I travel alone or with my family. I NEED to travel, that's just who I am. I am a curious George. I NEED to know what the other side of the world is doing. I failed to tell her I was going to Korea and it slipped my mind to mention my Nov trip to WDW. It just bugs her too much. I don't understand that at all and I guess she doesn't understand me! I am planning an Ireland trip for 2006, will I tell her so she can start worrying about it now? No, she's my Mother, I won't torture her! :charac2:
