My youngest DD (8) had her first (and only) filling on 12/27/02. At the end of last week, the filling came out! Naturally, it was happened when the office wasn't open. They weren't in all weekend due to the snow as well as Monday. They couldn't fit her in til this afternoon. Since she wasn't in any discomfort, I wasn't overly concerned....til the tooth started to break!! The back wall of the tooth has a huge chip out of it now! I don't think they will be able to fill it again. I know it's a baby tooth, but Jessica REALLY doesn't want to go this afternoon. She is afraid they might just pull it.:( She hated the novacaine last time! She was afraid her face would feel like that forever! ;)

Sorry to hear that Colleen! The poor girl! I had my first fillings when I was 7 (molar) and hated it. I hope it goes well for her.

I hope they didn't have to pull her tooth. How did it go at the Dentist, Colleen?

My dd (9 1/2) broke a took about 2 months ago. She had a tiny bit of discomfort, but when I took her to the dentist, they said they could try to fix it, but since it was a baby tooth, it would just come out in 6 months or so anyway. They were going to pull it, but she sprung those HUGE crocodile tears on them, so they didn't pull it.;)

I hope Jessica's tooth is still not bothering her. Were you able to get her into the dentist today anyway?

If she's nervous about it, just ask them if they can give her the gas...it calms you down quite a bit.

All went well yesterday. :D The dentist was able to refill the tooth. She orginially was going to pull it (you should of seen Jessie's expression - she looked like this :earseek: ). When she checked and noticed the tooth wasn't loose in the slightest, she opted to build it back up with that new white filling. One thing she did say that kind of alarmed me "All kids loose these fillings". If they don't last, why put them in?!! Granted, the white ones look 'prettier' than the old silver ones, but if they don't last....what's the point!?

Good to hear it went well, Colleen. Opinions of kids' teeth are so divergent, glad it is behind us, LOL.

I'm glad it went well. I hate going to the dentist for myself or my kids! My DD has never had a cavity but DS has had a ton.
