Need to Save $, book cat 11

We booked a cat 11 cabin and found it very spacious and more than sufficient with a king size bed. If you are the type of family that will, go, go ,go like ours you will find yourself only in the cabin to sleep and change clothes.

The only hard part is the mornings when there is no sunlight, it makes it hard to get up at first.

When we go again we will book the same and save money for excursions and other extras.

Thanks for posting. We had a verandah on our last four cruise and will not have one next month. It worries me to not even have a window. Last year we had such horrible verandah neighbors that when we rebooked on board we did not want a verandah. As it gets closer I am really concerned if we will be satified.

I agree! The Cat. 11s are very nice! We did enjoy the SPR we had last time, and have one reserved for our next 3 cruises. It only seemed worth it to me because we got a larger room AND a window. If one of those rooms had not been available we would have gotten the Cat. 11 again (and not another Cat.10).

It is expensive to go on the DCL---wonderful, but expensive. Everyone gets to enjoy the ship and it doesn't matter what room you have, so why spend so much on your room! Save your money!

We have 2 side by side cat. 11 rooms booked for the 3/13 Western instead of 1 cat. 10, because it was cheaper! Our DS 16 and 13 are thrilled that they get their own room, and I'm thrilled that they get their own bathroom!

Judy, two things to think about: 1) Do you need sunlight to help you get up in the morning? 2) How much time do you like to spend in your cabin?
We're just like mketting, always on the go and only in our cabin to change for dinner or in/out of our swimsuits and sleep. So we've always booked inside rooms (although we are booked for a cat.10 for our 1st DCL trip instead of an 11).
And inside rooms are very dark, even in the morning and afternoon.
I think these are the biggest issues of having an inside cabin versus an outside cabin (even with just a porthole - our first cruise was in an outside cabin). As long as either of those aren't major for you, you'll be fine.

We have been on both an inside and outside cabin with Carnival. We like to stay up until 1:00 am, then sleep in. It was easier to sleep in the inside cabin since there was no sun to wake us up early.

We never spend time in our cabin. Our children do not travel with us. They are adults. If I was traveling with nappers, I would have to have a verandah. I do like sunlight, I think that will be the worst. We are planning to spend most of our time outdoors on deck 9 and sometimes deck 4. This is a test. Maybe we will go back to a cat 6 next cruise. We are outdoor people. When we leave Chicago in April (or any other cold month) we are outdoors as much as possible simply because we can.

We love verandahs and don't cruise without one. We enjoy coffee on the balcony in the morning, a glass of wine out there before dinner. Wouldn't trade those peaceful moments for anything! My theory is that with a verandah you intentionally spend more time in your cabin because it makes it so enjoyable.

I'd agree, we didn't spend a lot of time in our room, but we did spend a lot of time on our veranda. I'm guessing that we'd have spent less time "in our room" without the veranda - and that even people who spend "little time in there rooms" without a veranda would spend more time there with one (as long as they didn't have obnoxious veranda neighbors).

However, I don't know if my choice was no veranda or no cruise I'd be saying no cruise. If a veranda is affordable for you, go for it - if its not (or if your budget doesn't allow for excursions, drinks and a veranda - and the excursions and Bahama Mamas are more important) inside is probably just fine.
