Need to rent a mini-van, best company?

We're looking into renting a mini-van instead of all of us paying for transportation to and from the airport, plus a one day trip over to Universal. In the long run, renting a mini-van will be cheaper. Who's got the best deals right now? Has anyone used carrental.com? Thanks!

On our last trip we went to L&M Rental, located at the MCO Airport. http://www.lmcarrental.net/

I checked extensively online at rates, choosing them because they beat all the others by about $100 for a minivan. We ended up getting a GMC Safari or something similar (was hoping for a Caravan) but it was fine. The van was almost brand new and drove like a gem.

When we first got to the counter, there wasn't much of a line so I was a little worried thinking this company was lousy or something (all the others were way backed up). I don't know what the deal was with the short wait time (maybe they are just quick?), but we were very pleased. No problems whatsoever.

Tanya, I'm not sure you can check @ L&M's site and see if they have locations where you are going. If you are unsure, call them.

I used Thrifty at a base rate of $169 / week in December. Not sure what the L&M rate is.

We have always had good luck with National. We use our AMX, I believe they give an extra discount for that.

Our last two trips down, we used Dollar and we were very satisfied with them. We were also glad to see that they have a site in San Diego and have already booked our van for June.

Through the Southwest Airlines website we just booked a mini-van (yesterday) with Budget for $170.99, total $215.86 with TTL. $5 more than a premium.

We have found Budget convenient and competitive. Costco members sometimes get better rates.
