Need to rent a car in CLE, advice?

We need to rent a car in CLE on Dec. 26th. We can either drop it off in Erie that afternoon or keep it all week and return it on Jan. 1st. We will probably have to drive ourselves back as well, the in-laws are not comfortable coming and getting us. Any advice renting a car last minute? Cheapest company or go through priceline?

Try Alamo this Tue. After 8:30 a.m. EST. That is the day they release their last minute specials.

I would keep the car all week because a one way rental will have a $150 drop off fee.

I have found great prices using southwest.com. Plus, then you know you'll get SW points (assuming you like to fly SW). Otherwise, Priceline works too, I usually check around when I rent a car and Priceline does a great job of showing everything out there.

Thanks for the info! Southwest was a little higher than priceline, but I think I will wait until tomorrow morning and try to get a last minute special. Has anyone tried name your price? I always want to try it but never do.

Dollar sometimes has "city specials" that are really cheap. After you enter dates and times, it will list what classes have the city specials (if any). I don't think second drivers are included in their rates.

Also, if you are a member of Costco, they can have great prices. I can usually get a better deal as the date approaches and end up rebooking the day before I leave if the rate continues to drop.

Thanks for all the help. I was able to get the rental for $40 cheaper than last week with Alamo city specials. Dollar last minute fares were cheaper, until I went to check out and the price had risen when I was looking a car types.
