Need to purchase cruise insurance - any good first hand experiences with claims?

I have always purchased cruise insurance for our Disney cruises, mostly from other companies than Disney. Last year when we cruised in December, I had a long conversation with a Disney rep who convinced me to purchase Disney's coverage. I think remember the key point being the flexibility of the way they reimbursed, future cruise credit, stuff like that. But Disney does not cover any of our flights since we did not book them through Disney. Flying out again in snow season, mid-November, I prefer to have the flights covered. I did go out to Mytrip to compare travel insurance policies and a company came up that I was not familiar with, CF Travel Insured International and it looked as thought they specialized in cruise insurance. But as I dug deeper, the company has a lot of complaints about unpaid claims, difficulty in issuing a claim, etc. I'm not sure if it's allowed on here or not, but since it's not a travel agency I'm discussing, hopefully I'm not breaking any rules. My apologies if I am! If you had a good experience with a travel insurance claim (especially on a cruise), please let me know what company you purchased from. Final payment is due on the 19th of this month and I have to purchase cruise insurance very soon! Thank you.

We use an Allianz annual plan, but they also do per trip policies. The one time we had a claim, it was processed very efficiently. I submitted documentation as scanned PDF files. Had a settlement check in less than 3 weeks for the full amount of our claimed loss without any issues. I was also able to track the claim processing through their online site.

I used Allianz and they first turned down my claim but then to my surprise I got a check in the mail. Turns out they changed the way I filed the claim and it fit the terms that were covered.

Have used RoamRight for cruises - was reimbursed for flight delays/cancellations based on weather (multiple times). Just takes about 2 weeks for processing and another week for payment. Mainly got the travel insurance because of medivac provisions. Have also lodged a claim for a CC travel insurance, but was denied because the delay was mechanical rather than weather related.

@anniepoppins Personally, we use the TravelGuard Gold policy. I've had to make claims and they were paid... Still my first purchase right after I put down a cruise deposit.

I’ve always used the insurance comparison tool to choose the best policy to fit our party size, ages and destination. It a comparison tool and includes many of the policies others have mentioned. Thankfully I’ve never had to find out how good they are. I’ve purchased Nationwide and Travelguard along with others

We haven't made any claims (thankfully!), but we did use the one you listed for both of our cruises, CF Travel Insured International. The price was good for the amount of coverage offered, and it was free for kids under 18. We did the World Trip Protector. I assume for all insurance companies, the best way to get a claim paid out is to document everything--get receipts, dr's notes, for everything. Paperwork is key!

We have used 3 different insurances for our past 3 cruises- all of which we had a claim. Allianz was super efficient and easy, travel safe classic gave a full refund for an unexpected surgery, but another time they lost the information and it took 3 months for reimbursement for a ship doctor visit. Allianz was my favorite so far.
