Wow - airfare is outrageous for Spring Break 2011!! I will be looking for fares under $500 rt from Houston to Orlando! I may have a hard time finding that!

Disney better find me a discount for my room or I may just need to call it all off!

SWA(Southwest airlines) will open up booking for spring break next week. SWA only allows booking 6 months out. You should be able to get ~$300 round trip through them with no extra baggage fees.

Sounds like a 15 hour drive is in your future...

Disney doesn't give it's strongest discounts during Spring Break periods either. That is a peak travel time and also an expensive time to be at Disney. Often period of spring breaks at blacked out and discount aren't even given, especially near Easter.

Is there someplace specific where you found the info about next week? I ask because I have Oct 5 on my calendar and I'll change the date if you found some new info. Thanks for the heads up. :)

We have been at Spring Break before and have always gotten some discount. They were offered the last 2 years as well. Our SB is never at Easter - so that helps!

We live in the DFW area and right now airfare is very high. Hoping for southwest to put out something decent. I have also looked into driving to MSY and then flying out of there. The eight hour drive could save me hundreds!

Southwest's site still says Oct 5

Right, I was just wondering where that poster got next week from. I'm looking for spring break so I want to catch the fares right when they're released.

OP ~ I'll bet there will be some sort of discount for spring breakers not right at Easter. It's just a waiting game!

EDIT: there is a thread on the Transportation section about SW release on 9/28 now!

Heading over to check the southwest rumor out! My BIL works for Southwest so I may call him and have him try and find out.

Please let us know if you get any inside information about Southwest's fares release date :goodvibes Last night when I checked their website, it said October 5th :confused3

We usually fly MSY, but for the times we want to fly out and return, our flights from there would be right at $1,250 for 3 of us :scared1: So we may as well just fly from our home airport LFT for the same price. We flew for less than half that price last July from MSY.

Download the SW DING! on your desktop for some good deals and just KEEP watching. The fares change HOURLY. Sometimes a/f thru Disney is cheaper, too.
