We are just back from a fabulous trip to WDW, our first stay at the BC. We LOVED it! We took our DVC tour on Sunday and have until tomorrow (Wed. 9/24) to decide to purchase and get the $10/point discount. BCV is sold out, so we would have to purchase SSR. But we would want to stay in BCV, or BWV as a second choice, most often. Now that I read this board, it looks like it's hard to book into BCV. It's just the 2 of us, we normally vacation in Sept., sometimes May or first week of Dec. We're considering buying 150 points.
Are we going to be frustrated trying to book into the Epcot resort areas? Or should we buy anyway? Would appreciate any thoughts. Thanks.

If you really want to stay at the BCV or the BWV, that is where you should buy. Why not look into purchasing a re-sale contract at one of those resorts or going on a wait list with Disney (if they will let you). The best piece of advice you will hear around here is to buy where you want to stay. If you really want to stay at SSR, then buy there.

We own at VWL and had never stayed there until this past trip. I love the Beach Club which wasn't even built when we bought, but we just wanted in!!! We have always been able to book whatever we've wanted at the 7 month window for our August trips. I am planning a trip next August for my whole family and need a 2bdrm and a studio. I booked the VWL today (at the 11 month window) but we really want to stay at an Epcot resort for my family who have never been to WDW. So, I plan on switching the reservation in January for the BCV, but I have the VWL reservation as a fall back just in case. There are many, many people who book at the 7 mo window or less. If you don't plan to travel during the really busy times (holidays, ect.) you should be fine in getting what you want at 7 mo out.

If your heart is really set on the Epcot area, maybe you should check into resales of BW.
Another option would be to buy SSR and maybe get on a waitlist for an additional contract for it. If you wouldn't be happy staying at SSR, at least for some of the time, you do have options.

Buy where you want to stay or where the cost is the lowest if the 11 month booking window is not important to you.

BCV is available via resale and you can ask for BCV wait list from Disney.

OKW is the best value of the DVC resorts. SSR is right in there with the $79 price for 50 years, if you will be able to use them.

Two thoughts. Buy where you want to stay, you do not want to be shut out of your favorite resort for the next 35+ years, the few dollars now won't make that big a difference down the road.
For us, location, proximity and transportation alternatives were important, we think the Epcot resort area is the best choice, if that's what you want, don't settle for less.

You can always use the rent/trade board on this site to rent out your first year's points for $10 per point which will be about the same as the $10 per point MB your being offered through Disney.

Good Luck!

I would not be overly discouraged about BCV's soldout status. I called on September 1st to add on there; on September 3rd, I had the addon. It seems points are still out there. from financing that falls through or whatever.

We just closed on a BCV resale for $72/pt. BCV resales go fast, but they are there - right now there's a 240 pt for $74 with all 2003 points intact, for example. It may take a little longer to go through the process, but if it's where you want to stay, go with it! We want to go to WDW between Thanksgiving and Christmas, which I believe is probably one of the most busy DVC times of the year - we picked BCV to buy because during that busy time we know we want to stay at BCV and we figure the 11-month window would be key to securing the place we want and the type of villa we want!

For what it is worth, we just added on 100 points at BCV yesterday. October use year.
