I don't really know what to do. We were going to leave on a Thurs., the day after school ends. My kids have to go to school on the last day, dd has 6th grade graduation, otherwise I'd pull them out and not care. We used up our 3 snow days and now if there are any more snow days they will add on to the end of the year. It's only mid Jan. and we are in NW PA, so I am guessing we will have at least 1 more.
Should we now leave on Fri. or even Sat.? It doesn't help that I am using NW air ff miles and some vouchers for the air tickets and should book soon. WWYD? I really wanted to get there ASAP to avoid some of the hotter temps later in the month. :crazy2: :confused3

I don't have a solution, but wanted to say that I feel your pain. We have had 6, yes 6 snowdays this year. We are in NW IN. Unfortunately, we are going to have to plan for Father's Day Weekend to arrive just to ensure that we don't end up having to rearrange our plans due to school being extended even more (they have already tacked on 5 days to the end of the year).

Here's to finally getting there! :beach:

There is not going to be a huge difference in the temp from Thursday to Saturday. Rebook leaving on Saturday. If you really get hit with more snow, would they make them go to school that following Monday? What would happen to the 6th grade graduation? I would ask your dd, how important is this 6th grade graduation to her? Would she throw a fit if she missed it? If she really cares then make it for when you are sure school will be out. If she'd rather be at Disney, then book for Saturday and pray you get no more snow!!

I would keep the vacation as planned for Thursday & miss the "6th grade graduation". (6th grade isn't really a graduation anyway...it's a "promotion". Graduation is for high-school seniors). You could book for Saturday & then watch a blizzard come & your kids may have an extra week to make up. You could end up driving yourself crazy.

Elementary kids don't "have" to go to school on the last day. Nothing of value gets done anyway. Believe me, there will be plenty of kids absent on that last day. :teacher: I always let mine, DD14 (sophomore) & DS10 (5th grade) miss the last day if they want.

The graduation/promotion is a really big deal-ceremony, slide show, reception afterwards. DD would not want to miss it- that's why they can't miss the last day.
I guess I will switch to Sat. and hope that is enough. Or I will have to spend $ on air change fees!
Maybe if they had more than two extra days added on they would still have the ceremony on a Friday. We can't be the only family traveling after the last day of school.

Disneyqueen, don't make yourself crazy over this. The temperature is not going to be different from the beginning of June to the end of June. You might be talking about 2 or 3 degrees and 4 or 5 percent humidity, but believe me - anything over a certain point and it all feels the same - and that point is reached by the middle of May/first of June easily.

Just book a trip you are reasonably sure you can make even with a few more snow days built in and don't stress about it after that. It will be hot and you will have a wonderful time anyway!!

And I understand about graduation - there were some "end of the school year" days we would have easily skipped but others my daughters wouldn't have missed for the world - even for an earlier start to a WDW trip. So I totally understand about that!!!
