OK for years I used bare minerals and was very happy with it. But over time my skin changed and became very blotchy and I was not getting enough coverage with BM. I switched to MAC studio sculpt foundation with spy and their mineralize skin finish powder 9in a compact). While I am happy with the results of this I have changes in my job status and need to cut cost. MAC is expensive. Any suggestions for nice foundation and finishing powder that is a bit cheaper. Maybe a drugstore brand? I see Kohl's sells make up like Vera Wang and I always have a Kohl's coupon.

This is Jducky's wife but I'm too lazy to log out and back in! LOL. I LOVE Clinique's Double Face Powder!! It covers like a foundation and finisher in one without feeling thick at all! I've used it for 15 years now, it's the only one that never makes me break out either, and it's pretty affordable!!!

I like the idea of one product/one step. I used to use a creamy powder foundation in a compact from Clinique years ago. Wonder if it is the same.

I'm a Clinique girl, but I like ulta products. While I haven't tried their foundation, the powder and a lot of other products are great and they often run sales. I typically don't pay more than $1 for their eyeliner, and I prefer it over Clinique. When it's on sale for that price, I buy like 4 and use them until the sale starts again.

I agree - I love Ulta! And their foundation is great. Have you tried their gel eyeliner? Once it's set, you can't smudge it - it's fantastic.

I used Bare Minerals for years and stopped a year or so ago for the same reasons you did. In that time, I've used YSL and now I'm on to Benefit.

I stay away from drug store brands. They are cheaper, but I've never been as happy with the way they look on after I buy them, which negates any cost savings if I end up not using it all.

Do you have a Sephora near you? I've found their employees very helpful (unlike the chick at Macy's last time I went there...)

I used to buy the expensive make-ups like Estee Lauder but switched over to all drugstore brands and I think they are just as good if not better in some cases. I use Physicians Formula Healthywear tinted moisturizer with an SPF of 50 to cover up the blotchiness from my Rosacea and then I use the same brand of mineral powder over the top of the moisturizer. I also love Cover Girl lash blast mascara, it is so much better than the Estee Lauder that I used to pay way too much for in the past.

I'm very happy with Sephora's powder compacts. It has great coverage and is great for mid-day touch-ups.

Bare Minerals made my face itch....so I switched to Everyday Minerals (online store) and loved it. I don't get my order in as often as I need to, so I need to find an alternative I can pick up locally....I'll have to try Ulta.

I love their eyeliner....not so much their lip stain but maybe I'll like their foundation.

i use the mineral veil but none of the other stuff

i would recommend any of the maybellnie dream smooth moose thats my favorite its light but good coverage

I have tried all the brands (department store and drugstore) and my absolute favorite is Covergirl Auqu Smooth Cream Make up. It comes in a compact, I use a sponge to apply and finish it with Physicians Formula Transclucent Loose Powder. CG is about $10 but often on sale! Plus many coupons in the P & G flyers! I always get lots of compliments! Even my super picky and beautiful 15yo wears this for Cheerleading.

Jane Iredale. My derm recommends it. It is expensive though.

i LOVE mineral hygienics. it has no talc or bismuth, unlike ALL of the other mineral makeups out there (i'm talking about the as seen on tv stuff, not department store brands-bare minerals, sheer cover, etc.). i did the research, because i have really sensitive skin, and MH is awesome.

This does peak my interest. I didn't see it before I found myself near an Ulta tonight so I bought some of their foundation and powder. I will use it for a week and then review it.

I use Tarte and Fresh make up I buy from Sephora. I try to buy as natural of make up as possible (with no parabens). I only buy make up once a year when Sephora is having their Friends & Family sale which is usually around November and 20% off. I also get a discount Sephora gift card from www.plasticjungle.com or www.cardpool.com before I purchase so I end up saving close to 30%.

I second Mineral Hygenics. I've been using it for about 3 years and love it. One container of foundation and finishing powder lasts a very long time for me. Plus their shipping is very quick.

I have extremely sensitive skin. I used to be a Clinique Double Face Powder user and while I loved the coverage and the ease of application, it really made me break out (my skin is that sensitive). No problems with Mineral Hygenics.

I'm a Clinique girl too - I have very sensitive skin and have trouble with their powders, but their liquid foundations are excellent. I use very little, mixed with a bit of their gel moisturizer, to get a customized tinted moisturizer effect.

I'd love to find a powder that my skin will take, my skin in the summer is shinier than a polished penny. I actually had a passport photo rejected because there was too much shine on my face - this after using blotting paper to try and get it to look more matte!!!

If by blotchy, you mean red or pink areas, Clinique has a redness solutions foundation that can really calm that down. My skin is very pale and very sensitive and can get red or irritated very easily if I use a foundation or other type of product it doesn't like. The Clinique Redness Solutions foundation has helped even it out quite a bit. It's $27, but for my skin it is well worth it. I haven't done too well when I've tried drug store foundations, most have really irritated my skin.
