OK. Am I totally screwed or what? Booked for a trip to Diz. Now I need to change the flights by 3 days. I have a flight down on Spirit Airlines. Flight back on US Air. Spirits website seemed to let me at least see the ins and outs ... looks like I can retain 329 credit value on my 629 spent if I cancel. When I try to change no flight options come up for my new date. Wow, 300 down the tubes at least. US Air website is not letting me see even that much. Am I missing out on any other options? Anyone have success canceling or changing on US Air or Spirit?

Copied this from their website - I am assuming that you have booked "non-fundable tickets."

Non-refundable tickets

Domestic flight changes are subject to a $150 fee and transatlantic/transpacific flight changes are subject to a $250 fee, in addition to any difference in fare.

Here are the rules:

If a reservation is canceled on/before the ticketed departure date, the value of the ticket may be applied toward future travel up to one year from the original issue date. Travel on the new ticket must be completed within one year of the original date of issue.
If any part of the ticket is unused after the ticketed departure date and the reservation has not been canceled, the ticket has no value.
Once the value of a non-refundable ticket has been applied towards the purchase of a new ticket, the original ticket is considered valueless.
Non-refundable tickets: all taxes are fully refundable (upon request), except the VAT for tickets sold within the U.S. and the following U.S. taxes (US; ZP; XF). YQ and YR are considered fuel surcharges, not taxes, and are non-refundable.

That is the drawback when you are getting discounted or low airfare; you are bypassing the ability to get refunds.

I think that the domestic change fee for US Airways is $150. If you decided to use these same airlines for your trip, adjusted by three days, you'd pay both the change fee and the difference between the fare that you originally paid and the amount of the fare at the time that you make the change.

There may be special circumstances that require you to make the changes. While there doesn't seem to be a lot of 'give' in the airlines' policies on this type of thing, it might be worthwhile to call the airlines and plead your case if you have an exceptional reason for having to make the change.

Good luck.

It's also a risk of using 2 different airlines. You get hit with change fees twice.
