Need to Cancel!!! We were leaving tomorrow! - Help

Exactly! You may as well live in a bubble if you are going to be that paranoid about germs. I guess this whole swine flu thing has really freaked a lot of people out. Personally, I barely gave it a notice. Why give in to all that negativity? I haven't been sick with anything since Oct. 2007, when I got a cold at you guessed it...WDW. Oh, and to the person who got me sick...no worries! I don't think you are evil or selfish or irresponsible or whatever other silly names people would call you. It happens, and I was still able to enjoy my trip.

EDIT: Before I get attacked again, when I say I didn't give the swine flu issue a notice, I meant the hype, not the fact people have died. My heart goes out to those people and their surviving loved ones.

Swine flu isnt an issue nor is it a big deal. Since swine flu rode into town more people have died of regular flu without it even being noticed.

ok let me say what so many others have said its one thing to not know you have a virus when you go really it is but when you KNOW you are sick and still go its selfish. Also I am not paranoid about the swine flu at all. Yes I am carful with hand washing but not paranoid

Yeah, I get that, but I just don't agree that it's selfish. I am not responsible for the health of everyone I might come into contact with. That is just not realistic. Sometimes people can't just up and cancel their vacations at the last minute. Sometimes people can't take a week + off work so they don't infect anybody. We don't all have money to waste and loads of paid time off available. So there's no need for all the name calling and judgment of other people. You don't know their situation.

yes I would be selfish if I knew I was sick and went. Its one thing to not know you are sick and go then know it and go.

You are always sick as you term it. At every single moment in time you are always harbouring something pathogenic and passing it on. The fact that you dont feel sick means nothing, it is merely indicative of how your body is coping with its "unwanted guests"

So then, now that you know this, you can never go to WDW, or anywhere else again by your rules or that makes you selfish (and a hypocrite).

Dont you like facts that dont suit your preconceived ideas? I have a degree in chemistry, a degree in Life Sciences and my major unit in my last year of the life sciences degree was immunology. I kinda know what Im talking about, unlike you.

I think you miss the point spectacularly.

Its not about following others. The point was that it is a catagoric fact that you will always be able to pass something onto somebody. Therefore it is ludicrous to suggest that you should ever avoid going somewhere because of it because that is the same as saying you should never go.

The feelings of being hot, cold, sneezing the sniffles or whatever else you have are symptoms of an illness. Not displaying these does not mean you are carrying no pathogens.

I personally would not..

If people don't "know" they're sick, then they don't know - neither do I - so I don't live my life in a bubble.. But if I "know" someone is sick - with a highly contagious disease - do I intentionally expose myself to that person? Of course not - that wouldn't be "rational" thinking by any stretch of the imagination..

I think we're talking about two different things here..

and again people misunderstand the difference between a sign / symptom and carrying an illness. You can feel perfectly fine yet you will always be harbouring and passing on illnesses to others.

You no longer have the excuse of ignorance or not knowing. So then, are you going to go on a plane and on holiday knowing full well that you WILL pass something on to somebody even though you dont feel unwell yourself? If so, then by your rules you are selfish. Alternatively, you could stop being stubborn, accept that you are wrong and just chalk this one down to experience.
