I bought a used tivo on ebay that came with a wireless usb adapter. The adapter did not come with any papers or cd and so I have no idea how I'm supposed to use this. I'm trying to do the guide setup and I'm having problems with the network settings/connection. Do I need a router to be able to use the adapter? If so, what kind of router? Do I still need to have a phone line if I'm doing this with the wireless adapter?

To use the wireless adapter, you do need to have a router hooked up to your computer and broadband connection. Get a wireless g/b router linksys or netgear brand. You'll only need the phone line for the initial call.

I don't have a phone. We use cell phones and I doubt my neighbor would want to lend me her phone line. This sucks!

Do you think i could take it to my mom's house and use her phone line? But, I would have to hook everything up to her tv as if it were her's right?

I think there is a workaround for not having the phone line. If the person who sold it to you didn't reset everything, you may be able to get away with just saying you changed your cable box and company.

Try tivocommunity.com . They have some good advice there. :)

I bought a wireless boardband router and I have the wireless adapter thing. So, I had the adapter plugged into the back of the tivo and the router hooked into my laptop. But, tivo isn't getting a network connection. So what do I do? I've read the instructions but I'm still confused.

I was able to take tivo to my mom and do the setup guide but now I want to change my settings to network settings and I just can't figure it out. Someone please help!

try the tivocommunity.com boards.
Do you have the cable orDSL connection going from the modem into the router? Your TiVo should be seeing the signal.
