Need tips on July at the Fort (not the 4th)

Hello fellow campers! We have camped at the fort numerous times, but always in the "off" season. Usually October (our favorite)! This year the kids are going to NY to stay with Grandma and Grandpa for 2 weeks, so my husband and I have decided to take our own vacation (and our 2 dogs) and spend a week without the kids to relax at the fort!

We don't plan on doing many parks, maybe 1 day at MK to see how the construction is coming along, but mainly to relax by the pool, take the dogs to the dog park, walk and ride our bikes! We may purchase a day or two for the water parks, but are concerned about how bad the crowds are in mid-July?! I know it will be hot, so I am looking for suggestions from anyone who has camped at the Fort mid-July (17th-24th). How does it compare to October?

It will be crowded. Essentially every site will be filled. However, the crowds aren't really an issue at FW. As you know, everything is spread out so it doesn't feel crowded -except at the pool. One thing to consider is that the pool will be very warm, to the point that it isn't refreshing at all; it doesn't cool you off. We ended up going to the water parks to enjoy the water, or took a shower to cool off.

I agree with the previous poster, the FW pool will be warm. We loved visiting the water parks during our July trip. We arrived when it opened, and were able to do everything before the big crowds arrived. (Basically that plan is what we did with all the parks.) As long as you know it's going to be hot, then you can be prepared for it. My biggest tip, carry water bottles wherever you go. We used Polar Bottles (an insulated bottle), and refilled it at the drinking fountains throughout the day. Enjoy your trip!
