Two for going to Disney this summer and two against! Yes, can you believe two are against going? The DH and DS, of course!

I need some really good pros suggestions for going so my DD and I can really convince them that Disney is the place to go! I need some pros too on staying on-site. DD and I want to stay on-site, and my DH said he would rather stay off-site. I don't think they would be as much fun!

So bring on the suggestions and lets see if we can get this booked ASAP!

Thanks everyone!

Where do they want to go?

We can't go if we don't know what we are up against. ;)

Where do they want to go?

How long since your last trip to WDW?

Have you stayed onsite before?

First of all, staying on site is so much better! You have transportation and don't have to worry about getting in your car and finding a parking place every day. If you want to return to your hotel, you can hop on a monorail or bus and be right there. There are inexpensive hotels on site that are competitive to off-site hotels. Also, Lake Buena Vista has nice hotels that are not Disney, but also offer transportation. There is a real nice Marriott there that has rooms a little over $100 a night. I still side with the on-site ones though!

Now, as mentioned, we are not sure what DH and DS want to do rather than Disney. But Universal Studios is a good option. My kids (ages 16, 14 and 11) all prefer Universal at this point in their lives, but they still enjoy Disney. Just given the choice, they would choose Universal due to the thrill rides. If that is the case, then maybe you could do Disney for a few days and then hop over to Universal for a day or two. Or if it is the beach they want to be at, Orlando is only an hour or so away from that.

Not sure if this helps or not, but I am always for planning a trip to Disney!

I say you and dd go to Disney, and let Dh and Ds go on a separate "manly" trip they'd like to do! Camping maybe? Or, let them choose some other Orlando options to do while you and dd do Disney World!

Disney has fishing excursions, from what I've read here they catch fish as if the bait is magic! It is catch and release, but is said to be tons of fun!

They don't care where we go, but they don't want Disney. We've been about 5 times and my DH says he doesn't need to go again! I can't believe it! Who doesn't want to go to Disney? I need to check my marriage vows again, because I'm pretty sure it said something about "Disney Addict" on them! LOL

We have stayed on-site and off-site before, and I much prefer on-site!

I need one good suggestions to veer them towards Orlando and then I think I'll be good to go! I even got us our free tix thru the volunteer program!

I love Disney, too, but our family takes turns choosing vacations. There are way too many beautiful places to see in this country to limit ourselves to one vacation destination!

I feel your pain. I don't know what I'd do if DH and DS wanted to go somewhere else. I think allowing them to go off on their own guys trip might be a good idea. My guess is they would miss you gals so much, they'd always want to go where you go from then on. If they do the guys trip, I would let them plan it all, make all the arrangements, etc. I can't speak for your family, but in my family everyone gets the benefits of my obsessive planning and bargain hunting. Good luck and let us know what happens.

Maybe it's time to throw them a bone this year. It's their vacation too.

Skipping a year of Disney will make it that much sweeter when you do go back. And they might be so appreciative of your consideration that they'll be more willing to go along for your next Disney trip.

A couple of ideas that might make everyone at least a little happy. Have you ever been to Disney Hilton Head. Nice Beach vacation. If you can go the end of August the rates go down, and lately they have been having more discounts whenever it is not high season. (currently Birnbaum discount of 20% off Aug 15th on. but it may get better, last year at that time I think they offered a Disney Visa discount) Another choice would be California. You can include a few days in Disneyland, Universal, and we loved San Diego.

How about not making the trip all Disney.

Universal will have the new Harry Potter world open.
Kennedy Space Ctr is about an hour away.
Seaworld is an option or how about Discovery Cove.

Compromise- some DIsney and some other activities.

I agree with this 100%!!!

I would really feel I was shorting my kids if the only place in this big wonderful world I ever took them was Disney.
What interests does your DS have? Is he a space nut? or History or sports? Explore somewhere else for a year and then Disney will seem much more special again. Ever hear of the saying too much of a good thing?

Honestly, if you've been 5 times and they don't want to go back then I wouldn't. I would come up with something that is fun for everyone. I mean, seriously, it sounds like you and your DD got your way 5 times. Let the guys choose.

Maybe compromise with California- a day or two for the girls at Disneyland while the guys see baseball games, learn to surf, go fishing, or anything else that they would enjoy.

How about Paris? great city and again the option for a day or two of Disney.

I agree with dad and son. It's time to try something new. You can always return to WDW some other time.

DH doesn't want to go to WDW - 2 DD and I do....SO we leave DH at HOME taking care of the dog....I figure it is his loss!!

We have decided to go to Florida, but not necessarily do Disney everyday like previous trips. We are going to stay off-site and rent a house.

The boys want to go fishing and do some golfing! The girls will do Disney and some shopping! Win, Win for everyone!

I was going to suggest a cruise for 3 0r 4 nights & Disney for 3 or 4 nights. The best vacations we've ever had was doin both of those!
