Hi all!

DH and I will be meeting my parents (we're in our early 30's, my parents are in their early 50's) at WDW for Christmas. My parents have never been to WDW, so we'd like to take them to a themed restaurant. We'll be on the DxDP, so we'll be doing a lot of signature dining, but are planning on attending the Wishes Dessert Party on Christmas Eve (fingers crossed that it's offered!) and would like to do a 1-credit lunch on this day. We're thinking Sci Fi Dine In or 50's Primetime. Any other suggestions? Food quality really doesn't matter as we're going more for atmosphere on this. TIA!! :)

I think they would enjoy 50's more since they will remember things around the decor that will remind them of houses they lived in and visited as children . I am 42 and still remember seeing that decor in family homes. They also hav better food than scifi and I know better hand dipped milkshakes. My parents go with us this year. They went with us in 2008 and we stayed at pop . This will be their first trip to Kidani. Dh is 45, my mom is 68 And dad is 73

Also picking dessert through the Viewfinder is a classy touch at 50's. My dad really liked the small bar at WL around the corner from WCC. We enjoyed taking the boat back to MK that evening. I thought Plaza restaurant had the best club sanwich and fries. Rain forrest is fun for theming too. This oct we will take Daddy to Beirgarten.

since you are going to want to be in MK that evening, i would go to MK that day as Christmas Eve can get pretty crowded and i would hate for you to be denied entrance to your dessert party park... ergo, i'd try LTT or the Plaza as those are our two fave lunch spots... for a 2TS meal you could really lunch in true disney style at the castle (does anything say disney more than CRT?!)

another way to enjoy the fireworks w/out going to the park would be a fireworks cruise... it would make a great Christmas present!!!

Whether or not they enjoy 50s PT is really dependent upon their personalities. My inlaws liked 50s PT until the waiter gave my FIL a hard time for "playing with his food" when he dumped part of his milkshake on the table. It was hilarious, but my FIL found no humor in it and now would prefer not to go back so that he won't be "harassed" during his meal.

FIL just prefer to eat his dinner in peace and quiet without attention being the focus of attention.

My kids love 50s PT, so we'll go back this next trip. My hope will be that they pick on the rest of us an leave FIL alone. :)

Good point about the crowds and possible sell outs. I keep forgetting about LTT and the Plaza - those would be fun! I've heard LTT has an awesome lunch and I have always wanted to try the Ooey Gooey Toffee Cake!! :goodvibes

My parents have a good sense of humor. In fact, my mom is often picked out as the "target" at these types of places since she laughs and plays along.

DH and I went to 50's this past summer, and while our server was pleasant enough, she definitely didn't put on a show like I was expecting. I would hate for us to have that same experience with my parents.

What a burden having to make such a decision! :rotfl2:

This oct we will take Daddy to Beirgarten.

Biergarten is a definite possibility, too. We have a lot of German in our blood, so that food and atmosphere would be right up our alley. As would the beer! :drinking1
