Two of our children are asthmatic and I am highly sensitive to smoke as well. We were considering Poly- but with it being older before they had exclusive non-smoking rooms I'm a little wary, and then we considered BCR- but heard only one floor was non-smoking. We have a family of five- 2 queens and a daybed would work fine- so we are a little limited, we stayed at AKL last time- the jungle and animals probably not such a great idea for my children with allergies. Anyone with ideas? We're planning on going in late September or October.
Thanks!

Maybe CBR, I think it has been redone and doesn't have interior corridors so this sounds like it may work well for you. Someone may have some more info on it, I'm sure.

The Contemporary sounds good because it is really open on the inside if you stay in the tower.

There are some renovations going on at the Poly and there has been some concern over their smoking policy because they have had to move things around a bit. You may want to search for the thread on this.

No matter where you stay, make sure your non-smoking request is for medical reasons and move if your room smells smoky.

I don't think you would have a problem at AKL. There isn't smoking allowed on the balconies there for the savannah view so you know you can sit on your balcony and not encounter a problem. It's pretty much brand new so you may have better luck here getting a non-smoking room that hasn't been smoked in.

The animals aren't too close to your room so I don't think this would be a problem like if you went to a petting zoo or something.
You should really check it out. I believe a lot of the smoking rooms are pool view at AKL so avoid that.

Hope this helps.

At CBR there are only 2 smoking buildings in the entire resort, and they are located in Aruba and Trinidad North.

At PO-R, the smoking buildings are 18, 38, and Oak Manor... so avoid those.

At PO-FQ, the smoking buildings are 2 and 4, so just avoid those.

At All Star Sports, the smoking buildings are Home Run #9, Surfs Up # 1, and Hoops Hotel #3. If you stay at Center Court of Touchdown, you will avoid smoking buildings all together.

At All Star Music, smoking buildings include: Calypso #3, Jazz Inn #9, and Rock Inn # 3. If you stay at Broadway or Country Fair you will avoid smoking buildings

At All Star Movies, the smoking buildings are: Mighty Ducks #3, Fantasia #8... if you stay at Toy Story, 101 Dalmations or The Love Bug, you will avoid smoking buildings.

At Coronado Springs, the smoking buildings are: Casitas #1 floors 3 and 4, and Cabanas 9A.

At the Wilderness Lodge, floors 3 and 5 of the South side are designated smoking.

I was unable to tell from the diagrams in the Passporter which areas of the AKL, Yacht and Beach Club, Boardwalk are smoking, but according to the book, the 1st and 3rd floors in the South Wing of the Contemporary are smoking, although the 3rd wasn't when we were there last year.

Make sure you tell them that you need non smoking for medical reasons... I have to, as well, and we have never had any problems.

Actually at AKL some smoking guests have been moved to NS rooms due to views and given an ashtray by staff and told to smoke on the balcony. AKL will be 2 years old this Spring and that is alot of people in and out.

I'm sorry, I guess my statement about AKL wasn't too clear- we've stayed there and yes had a savannah room- I counted atleast 10 smokers at any one time smoking on the balcony- unfortunately one was right below our room. The hotel told me they had not policy against smoking on the balcony- only on throwing the butts on the ground. All the dust and dander floating around there was not the best plan for my kids- but we loved the ambience- and in between inhalers there were no complaints- I just want one vacation without worrying about my child being able to have difficulty breathing. Thanks for all the tips on the hotels!! What is CBR? Hopefully I'll figure that one out soon. Thank you all!

I hope your kids have a healthy vacation at WDW!

If it is true at Wilderness Lodge that all the smokers are in the South Wing 3rd and 5th floors, try and book the North Wing (Artist's Point) towards the East side and you will be close to the boat launch as well - rooms ending in numbers 00/02/04/06 as in #2004 for example are at the end of the hallways as far as possible from the elevators and vending machines (ie. quiet and very few people passing by your room)

Good Luck

Jason
