So down, Need cheering up from my disers!

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hey all, as you can see I was suppose to be leaving on vacation tonight.
We were all set to go ,even had free dinning and a moderate hotel, which we normanlly can't swing and we had to canceal. My husband crushed his arm in a forklift this past August. He is recovering but still in a lot of pain as well as going to therphy 3 times a week, so vacation needed to be cancealed. The kids, my husband and I were so looking forward to this trip. We had booked back in April and have been counting down until the day we were to leave.
I am so greatful that I have kids who know that Daddy being ok is the most important thing but how can anyone expect them not to be alittle down about not going after so much planning? Any suggestions on how to make it easier on us all would be great. As you may have guest, money is low as well as my husband spirits. He feels sooooooo bad that we had to canceal due to his injury, not that anyone blames him but he blames himself. I am requesting good thought, lots of prayers and a ton of pixie dust from all of my friends out there and please say alittle extra prayer that we get to make the trip sooner then later. Thanks all.

I can feel your pain and relate to it! I had booked a trip for my kids and I for last Thanksgiving. I learned in August that DS6 would need to go to Boston in September for a second heart surgery (totally unexpected!) There was no way I could swing flight, hotel and expenses for that PLUS do WDW 2 months later, so I cancelled. My kids were disappointed, but, like yours, they understood that DS's health was the priority!

Thankfully, I am able to take them this Thanksgiving! Ironically, I learned this August that DS needs to be seen by a team at Cincinnati Children's Hospital in October, but, this time I am not cancelling! I will just make it work!

I am truly sorry to hear about your DH's injury. It sounds painful and I am sure he would be miserable even in the happiest place on earth! Is it possible to book another trip in the near future? I hope your family is able to enjoy some other family activity during that week so as not to be continually saddened by the lost vacation! HUGE hugs coming your way.

That's too bad...you are in my thoughts.

Can you postpone instead of cancel? Even if you can't go until next September (free dining), at least you could look forward to the trip. Could you go in December during value season and take your kids out of school (in the first few weeks before the holiday rush)? Just think of it as more time to save money for your trip.

Maybe you could plan a surprise Disney night to tide you over? How old are your kids? We have the Magic Kingdom game and Haunted House Clue - DD7 likes the MK game. You could play games, have Disney type snacks, and maybe you could get a few Disney things for your kids from the dollar store or on sale at your local Disney store. Or watch a few of your favorite Disney movies. Or have a whole Disney weekend. Would that help or make your DH feel worse? Just an idea. (It sounds like fun to me!)

I hope that your DH is feeling better soon.

 That must be a huge disappointment but glad that your DH is ok - sounds like a scary accident! I agree w/the others, can you re-book for another time? Give you something to look forward & place to celebrate your DH's recovery when he's better.

:grouphug: So sorry and hope that your husband is feeling better very soon. Will definately pray for you all and hope that you can reschedule your vacation.
