Need suggestions for first California trip!

With 3 nights in DLR and only a 7 day trip, going all the way to San Francisco is a lot. I would do 2 days at Joshua Tree national park and Palm Springs, 1 day for things like WB studios and maybe another studio tour, and 2 days for Sequoia and Death Valley. You could also do 2-3 days in San Diego, or a full day whale watching and visiting Channel islands.
