Need suggestions for dining in resorts

Just found out we are headed to DW in three weeks (very unexpected)! We are going to arrive mid-day in Orlando and will not be entering the parks that day. We'll have lunch and dinner open. Since we'll probably be visiting some of the resorts to shop and sightsee, I'm wondering if I can get some suggestions for dining. We aren't interested in table service meals, just looking for something casual, with good food (we are not picky) and great theming. Two adults and a 9 year old girl in love with all things fancy.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Hi I am confused about your above post. You are stating that you are not interested in TS meals, that leaves you with CS, and there is nothing "fancy" at CS.

CS-I would head over to DTD. There are a lot of great CS choices there. Plus you can ride around on the boats and feel like you are really "doing" Disney. :goodvibes

Also at Contemporary I rec. the Contempo Cafe. (CS). We ate there 3 times last Oct. It's located in the middle of the hotel with the monorail coming through every few minutes-you can even wave to the riders. You can even hop on the monorail to check out the other monorial resorts. Both Poly and GF have a GS choice. GF is pretty good, but small, Poly is better themed and some of the food is good. You can even sit outside and enjoy the tropical theming. Once you are done eating you can check out the Poly beach. They have great sand that even at 12 my DD loves to play in. If it's evening you can schedule yourselves to be there in time to catch the fireworks from MK. It's a great viewing location (as is the Contemporary)

As PP said there is nothing fancy about the choices. But there are a lot with some good food.

I have a QSDP report where all we had we CS. Click on link below to read. I have a lot of photos on my report.

I just meant she enjoys all of the over-the-top theming, not that we are looking for an expensive table service dinner. So, the better the theming in the CS options, the more she would get a kick out of it. Hope that makes more sense. I can see why that was confusing. Sorry!

No Problem! I was confused about the "fancy" post, and didn't want disappointment cause the CS resaurants are not fancy, but yes they have themes.

Got to www.allears.net under dining, then the menus, so you can see what the CS menu options are.

There really isn't much in the way of theme at the CS places....some of the in park ones are decorated to go with the area they are in ie:CHH is colonial style.

We really like going to the Poly just to walk around and visit. You can eat at Captn Cooks....the food is good and you can sit outside.

DTD is also a great option. My favourites are EoS and WPE.

You might also find in fun to go to the BW and just get a pizza.

Just read your report. It's fabulous. Thank you!! *taking notes* (I'm dying for a Mahi Mahi sandwich now!)

My suggestions are the Wilderness Lodge (absolutely beautiful lodge and grounds), Grand Floridian and the Poly. You can research CS options on other threads. These 3 stand out for us. we enjoy looking around the grounds and main building.:dance3:
