at the Outer Banks, NC.

It looks like our beloved Dauphin Island will be covered in oil by the time we get there and the Sea Lab has enough volunteeres for animal and land clean up.

We're now looking to do a mini lighthouse tour of the Carolinas. We don't really want to rent a house, they're quite expensive, so we're looking at hotel/motels. Cape Pines Motel looks OK, but was looking for any other suggestions for nice hotels.

Thanks!

we'll be staying at the SeaFoam Motel this summer - its on the beach - nothing fancy..

I don't know that it's far enough north to be outer banks but this is a place I had researched and been interested in staying with my sister's family...we ended up farther south but it looks interesting to me!

Thank you both for the suggestions. They both look like nice places to stay. I def. like the price of the Sea Foam place and the interior of the Atlantis Lodge. Still so torn!

Nags Head Inn. I personally have never stayed there, but have friends who do every year for their anniversary...they are headed there in a few weeks! I don't think it's anything fancy, but it's on the beach. There aren't really any "fancy" hotels in Nags Head, which is why I LOVE going there. It's still just a beach town. There is a relatively newish Hilton hotel on the beach if you are looking for a chain hotel.

I second the Nags Head Inn. It's nothing fancy but it is on the beach. Feels like home to me. I :lovestrucNags Head.

The Outer Banks is really more houses than hotels. I can't think of a fancy hotel anywhere out there. Some of the ones on the beach are NOT fancy. They are on the beach but think 1970's lol.

Yeah, we're just trying to find a place to stay that's inexpensive, but not covered with the seventy's wood paneling on the walls. We're not sure we'll even play in the water much, just going mainly to take lighthouse pictures, eat and relax. We're still monitoring the oil spill near Dauphin Island though, hopefully we'll still be able to go and our island will be safe.

In case we can't go to DI, I appreciate your suggestions, I'm writing them all down.
