Hello: I found your forum and have a question for everybody:

I am a writer with a magazine that is for children who use wheelchairs and for their parents. I am looking for a child who uses a wheelchair, between ages 8-12 who has gone to DisneyWorld. I would like to interview both you and your child about your experience in DisneyWorld. Thank you for any help you can give me ASAP.

Kindest regards,

Roxanne

I live and work from my home in Minnesota and I am full-time associate editor for New Mobility, a national lifestyle magazine for people who use wheelchairs. I also write for our sister publication, Kids on Wheels. We are always looking for stories about kids, ages 8-12, who use wheelchairs, who are doing interesting things.

If you have a child who would be interested in talking to me I'd love to hear from you. I interview over the phone and if mom or dad want to listen in, that is perfectly fine!

I've been in contact with Roxy and am posting two URLs as her post count does not allow her to post links. The first magazine is at www.newmobility.com and the other one is at www.kidsonwheels.cc .

I have looked at these sites which is why I am posting this.

I have not seen kidsonwheels, but I have read New Mobility. It was quite an interesting magazine. I read it either at Gillette Lifetime Care or while our van was being serviced at the mobility equipment place that used to be called Complete Mobility in Roseville, MN.

My DD is too old for your article, but we have been going to WDW with her in her wheelchair since she was 3 and have made too many trips to count. Even though she is too old, feel free to contact me if I can help.

Hi

My son is 8 1/2 years old and has been to WDW twice in his wheelchair. He is also involved in various other activities. I would be pleased to share any information I can with you.

My son will be 8 in December. He used his chair for the first time at Disney last Sept. We are going again on the 4 day Disney cruise and to the parks this September.

Let me know if we can help.

How old is your daughter? (I volunteered at Gillete in the early 70s when it was over near Phalen Lake!) What disability does she have -- we like to have a mix so all kids can relate.

My DD is 22 and her primary disability is CP - she has very variable muscle tone and has been called a spastic quad (with much more involvement in her lower extremities than upper), quad with mixed tone, mixed (with spasticity in her extermities, hypotonic in her upper trunk and some athetosis thrown in for good measure) and one time someone saw no involvement in her upper extremities. Everything is kind of dependent on her muscle tone the day she is being seen.

I have 2 daughters with spina bifida in wheelchairs ages 9 & 17. They have visited Disney many times. Most recent trip was 2/07 next trip 2/08.

We subscribe to Kids on Wheels and think it's a great resource for kids.
