We are going on our very first trip to WDW Dec 2-9. We are at the Poly first half then off to Pop. It will be me, my DH, my DD who will 29 months old( looks like a 3 yrold and is 37" tall and almost 40 lbs, and our newest DD who will be a little over 4 months old but was a 33 week preemie who now at almost a month (Born July 24th) is only 6lbs.
Ok heres the problem, we bought an old Graco double stroller this spring, weighs almost 50lbs it seems, at a yard sale. Well I just got taken the girls for a walk and its not going to work, too hard to manuever and in 4 blocks I was ready to carry both kids on my hips its so hard to steer and push.
What I need is a decent relatively cheap solution. I have olders DD stroller, a nice Graco that we paid about $100 for last summer and weighs around 20 pounds that we can always take but I dont want to have to rent something for the oldest whom I KNOW will tire it, she may be a big girl, but she was also a preemie and still seems to tired out fairly easily.
Money is defaintely an issue, we are only able to go because I won the trip via McDonalds so plane tickets, hoppers and the poly portion of the trip is paid for. We ended up with an extraordinary amount of bills with Carrie being early that this trip has to be on a shoestring ( arent eligible for the dining plan for the Poly portion either).
Any and all ideas are appreciated including any ideas on a fairly cheap umbrella type stroller for my oldest.

Congrats on the 2 cute lil girls! Just a thought can you just bring the single stroller leave the baby in it until her sister gets tired and then wear the baby in a front carrier or sling? Just a thought I LOVED wearing my babies when they were that small! Too bad those days are LONG gone!

I agree! This would be a great solution. I know my DD (a 29 weeker preemie) loved being in the front carrier. It must have reminded her of our Kangaroo Care! ;)
As for using an inexpensive umbrella stroller just for your older DD...Do you have any "Kid-to-Kid" resale type stores in your area? You could check there. I've also seen TRU & BRU selling their umbrellas for rather good prices. I think under $20.00.

I know EXACTLY what you mean about the bills for having a preemie!!! :scared1: But have fun on the trip!! Go and enjoy and forget about the bills for awhile! Your girls are too cute and you are truly blessed!!

Yep -- I'm in the "wear the baby and put the older sister in a single stroller" camp! She'll still be very little and light, so wearing her shouldn't be a problem. . . especially if you start now and build up your strength as her weight increases! Baby will be happiest there, too!

OneStepAhead has this STS-1 stroller on sale right now for $40. It says it has a 45lb weight limit. I'm not a stroller guru by any means but it looks like a combi stroller. The price looks right though so I just thought I would mention it.

You might also look at the Chicco Capri stroller. They have a 37lb weight limit however weight limits on strollers can often safely be exceeded. Going a few lbs beyond the weight limit is only going to affect it's steering performance, if anything.

hth, and congrats on the new arrival. My ds was also a preemie btw (see my sig below).

I would invest in a great mei tai or sling or pouch (or all 3!) and wear baby and let teh older one ride in the stroller. It will make standing in lines and wlaking everywhere much easier wearing the little one everywhere. PM me if you need links on a carrier- I may even have a hotsling I can send you for really cheap if it will fit you.

ENJOY your trip!
