DH will be at Disney this weekend on a business trip (wish I had a job like that!) and I want him to bring home a few souveniers so my DD3 can better anticipate the trip...not that she doesn't already tell every stranger we meet, "I'm going to Disney World!" I'm thinking books or videos with actual pictures of the parks/rides, coffee table souvenier books, CD's with special themed music...stuff that's not easily found outside the world. I know he's making a special trip to DTD, so he should be able to find stuff there.

Any suggestions?

My first thought was the Mr. Potato Head that has the Disney pieces. You can't get those pieces outside of Disney World. We had a fun time filling our box up. You get a box that you can stuff as many pieces into for a certain set price. We bought the actual potato head before we left, so that we didn't have to take up space with that. You can get those at Target. The only thing you have to be sure to do is get the arms. The arms are special for holding the Disney pieces like the balloons. There are some really neat pieces like a tea cup, a Toy Story car (from the ride), Mickey ears, Mickey ice-cream, Minnie bow, etc. It is our favorite souvenir. You can get them at the big toystore at DTD.

Other than that, there are books that show all the rides, etc. When we went last January they also had coloring books with the rides in it. Those are a favorite around here.

I 2nd the Mr Potato Head idea. My kids also love the souviener buckets from the popcorn vendors and there is one at DTD. My kids love putting things into containers and those are lots of fun with Disney characters. They also love playing with the PVC character toys. I know you can get a lot of sets from the Disney catalog but they have individual ones in some of the stores. I got my kids a whole set of Safari animals. In 2001 I bought Pooh & Tigger at the Pooh store in DTD and in 2004 I got Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Pluto, Eeyore, and Piglet.

I have also purchased my kids character shaped crayons but they do break easily-still work when broken but its sad when Mickey or Tigger break.

Another idea might be the die cast ride vehicles. We have Dumbo, Pooh, Peter Pan, Test Track and the Monorail. We also have a plastic Goofy Barnstormer.

There is also a parks version of Candy Land.

I'd second the coloring book suggestion, the CD of park music, and the books with pictures of WDW. I would think about holding off on the Mr. Potato Head until you go on your trip. My 2 enjoyed picking out the pieces themselves and I think you DD would too. I would also suggest one of the spinning light chasers, an autograph book and fat pen for the characters to sign with and a princess dress. Your husband should also send her postcards from Disney while he is there.

my DD3 got into trading pins while we were there - maybe he could pick up a starter set for her and you could explain trading pins to her

I highly recommend the official kids guide book. It worked wonders for our dd comfort level on her first trip. Seeing pictures of what things actually looked like got her excited and visually prepared. Also, got her very interested in reading!

There are plenty of Mr. Potato Head parts to fill up many boxes now...so, I say get some now and then she can add to her collection later.
Have fun.

We were just there last week and my daughter got a really cute book of postcards of all of the princesses at the gift shop beside the ariel show. There are a couple of cute coloring books princesses and mickey & pals. I also like the disney pez, they have Mickey, Minnie, Donald, etc. (not always easy to find back home). If you get the Mr. potato head have a staff member stuff it for you...you can get a ton in the box that way. I bet there would be some cute sing alongs that she would really like. Does she like dolls? There are several really cute princess doll outfits. They also have barbies that are princess & prince paired (ex. Belle & the Beast). They also have cute figuring sets from several princess movies.

Thanks you guys! My DH ended up getting her a playset of Sleeping Beauty that has the prince, the fairies, and much to my daughter's delight, Queen Malificient. She LOVES her! Go figure. He also got a couple of DVD's that show different rides and different parks. We love them and can't wait for our trip!
