I posted this on the scout thread too but I thought I would get more exposure here :) I am looking for help for songs . I am creating a photo show for my end of the year ceremony for my Daisy scouts and I need song advice. I want some tear jerkers about kids growing up and some fun songs too. Please give me some ideas!

We just did photo DVD's for the teachers at out school for Teacher Appreciation gifts and here's the listing of songs we selected from. Some may be geared a little bit more towards "appreciation" but all of them are great.

In My Life - John Lennon (a must)
Stand By Me - John Lennon (not the movie version)
We are Family - Sister Sledge
Somewhere Over the Rainbow - Israel "IZ" Kamakawiwo'ole
Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life) - Green Day
Kind & Generous - Natlalie Merchant
I Could Not Ask For More - Edwin McCain
You're My Best Friend - Queen
Little Wonders - Rob Thomas
What a Wonderful World - Louis Armstrong
Let Them Be Little - Billy Dean
Wonderful World (don't know much about history...) - Hermins Hermits
Teach Your Children (Well) - Crosby, Stills and Nash
Thank God For Kids - Kenny Chesney
Dreams - Cranberries

Kids songs I also like
You've Got A Friend In Me - Theme from Toy Story
Drawing - BNL (from their Snacktime CD)

Cariann, thanks so much for your suggestions. I totally forgot In my life and you are right, it is a must!

Keep em coming!

I do a lot of these - for school volunteers, fifth grade banquets, and family...

Times of Your Life by Paul Anka - gets 'em every time.

I also like:
On My Way (Brother Bear soundtrack)
Come So Far (So Far to Go) on the Hairspray soundtrack
Shiny, Happy People by R.E.M.
You'll Be In My Heart on the Tarzan soundtrack
Let Your Love Flow by the Bellamy Brothers
The Riddle by Five For Fighting
Butterfly Kisses by Bob Carlisle

Hope that helps!

Thanks! I have added them to my list! So many great ideas! I hope it turns out as good as it is in my head :)

My DD's preschool teacher used "My Wish" by Rascal Flatts as part of her sldieshow and it turned out so beautifully we were all sniffling!

I also need some more upbeat stuff. I am using girls just want to have funa nd I need a good patriotic song to go with pictures from our memorial day parade.

Patriotic:
for upbeat: You're A Grand Old Flag
America - Neil Diamond
Only in America - Brooks and Dunn
and if you're in PA - Philadelphia Freedom (Elton John)

less upbeat: God Bless the USA/Proud to be an American (but love it!!)

Hope this helps

Since it is girls and you want tear jerkers-

Martina McBride- In My Daughter's Eyes
Steven Curtis Chapman- Cinderella
Taylor Swift's new one- Best Days

Fun ones-
You are the Sunshine of My Life
Brown Eyed Girl
My Girl
So Happy Together
We are Family

thanks jbm02! I know the songs but for some reason, I have been drawing a blank with this project! You all have helped me so much so far!

For an upbeat song, how about - "Do you believe in magic?"

(I'm not sure if that's the title or just the first line. - It was in the soundtrack to "The Parent Trap.")

OMG I just had a 70's flashback to when Shaun Cassidy remade this. :rotfl2:

tahnks, put it on my list! I am really at a loss for upbeat songs for some reason. I don't want the poor parents crying lal the way through it :)

House on Pooh's Corner - Logins and Messina
Return to Pooh's Corner - a later Logins Album
If it Wasn't For Love - Jon Anderson
Onward - Yes
Hey Jude and Yesterday - Beatles

:goodvibes Friends are friends forever Michael W. Smith sorry a tearjerker. but what about "This one's for the girls" for a more upbeat song.

I worked on my photoshow last night and it is looking really good so far. I think I need a few more suggestions if anyone has any. I hope all the parents will love this at our ceremony. My plan is to do one at the end of each girl scout year.
