Need something simple (new knitter)

I'm new to knitting- very new!

We are going on vacation with family memebers this summer and I would like to make them all something. Any ideas. We are going to Scotland together. I know it will be chilly but not enough for scarves. I was hoping to make something we could use on our trip.

Any ideas?

just subscribing! i too just started knitting and am in the middle of my very first scarf, not that i or anyone i know needs a scarf...but it's easy! would love to hear about other easy-ish things to make!

I'm doing a scarf too. Hopefully we can get some ideas here.

If you go to www.lionbrand.com, there are a ton of patterns there, and you can search by skill level, yarn type, etc.

I just knitted a scarf for my DD (3) from one skein of Fun Fur yarn -- it came out to exactly the right length for a little girl and was totally easy! 16 stitches across, back and forth -- I didn't even purl, as the fun fur hides the stitches anyway.

Thank you, Joy, for the link. Dd wants to learn how to knit and I haven't knitted in forever. The diagrams are very helpful.
