I really had my heart set on taking the kids to a real orange grove while we are in Orlando area at the end of June, but it seems this is the off season. One place I looked up says in one section that the groves are closed in the summer, but then it says in another section to call in the summer for specific hours. Does anyone have any suggestions for this type of activity in the summer months? We have a non park day and I'm trying to do some unique and new things. That morning we plan on going to Wonder Works, but I want something for the afternoon/evening. We went to the gulf coast last year, so that's already done. Any ideas?

Have you looked into these guys?

Their eco-tour looks cool:

I thought dougsmom98 and JANNYANS' suggestions sounded good, too, depending on your kids. My younger ones are always up for a candy factory tour. :teeth:

It's more of an evening activity, but you can make chocolates at Ferris and Fosters:

This looks really interesting. As a matter of fact, it looks like a place I could get into some serious trouble.:cloud9: But hey, I was willing to drop $100 for another activity anyways. Thanks for info.
Maybe an airboat ride? My sister and dad did one last week and had a good time.
I thought about this, but can't decide if we would want to do it or not. On the fence. Thanks.

This is actually the website that I looked at that is iffy on if & when they are open. It is actually the site that helped me really want to do the orange groves. I think I may call them tomorrow & try to get a more direct answer for the summer season. Thanks.

Since I posted I have also thought about Gatorland too, but as with the Airboats I'm just not sure. Honestly, alligators really, really freak me out:scared1:.

Since this thread got bumped back up(even though it's a comment that doesnt' make any sense to it):confused3, I am actually leaning towards going back to the gulf coast. I really like what Fort De Sota park/beach looks like & it would give us something other than just beach to do. I posted a question about it on a new thread, but no responses, so if anyone has anything to tell on it please do.
