OK, so i am ashamed that i have to ask, but i have no idea how to do this......

i created some very simple, but very handy pages that can be added to my Disney Club nifty new binder. I have blank templates as well as ones crammed with info about disney and other orlando attractions. It dawned on me that others may want to use them, but i have no idea how to get them someplace where they can access them.

they are all microsoft word files and i currently have them in a folder on my hard drive.

can someone out there give me some options on how to make them available for sharing? (i would prefer not to have to e-mail them to every poster who asks for them)

thanks for any advise you can give me

It isn't something to be ashamed that you have to ask about, and I'll try to help.

First, I'd suggest that you save them in the format for the lowest version of Microsoft Word that the format will allow. Specifically, if you have Word version 2002 and save it in that format, then the number of people that will be able to use it will be limited to those that have Word 2002. If you have Word 2002 and you can save it in the format for Word 97, the number of people that will now be able to use them will increase dramatically. To save it in an earlier format, use the File / Save As option and then click on the down arrow and find an earlier version that is compatible. The only way I know of to check it is to manually verify that it still looks and acts the same way.

Second, to make it available for others, you'd have to have it stored on a Website that will allow that type of file to be uploaded. Then when a user wanted to download it, they would just do a right click on the link on the webpage and then select 'save target as' if they were using Internet Explorer.

I can't think of any other ways to make it available without manual intervention.

hope that helps

thanks for the info. the part about making it as "old" of a version of Word as possible i got and could do. the part about creating a web page is regretfully way beyond my skills. Maybe if i get a major lag in my workload i can take the time to give it a go.

thanks again

You're welcome for the info.

Perhaps you know someone that's interested in Disney (like other Dis'ers here) that already has their own Website? If so, they might be willing to 'host' it for you. Then you could offer a link in your signature file to the file on their site.

What file extension does your template(s) have? If it is a 'doc', free websites from an ISP would probably allow it to be uploaded. If it is a 'dot', it wouldn't be as common as far as being allowed to be uploaded. You still might be able to do it by converting the separate files into a Zip archive or into a self extracting executable file.

hope that helps
