Dh and I are planning to go away for a weekend for our anniversary in June - kid free for the first time in 15 years for more then just a dinner out.

We are in Guelph and don't mind driving up to 5 hrs or so - will be going from a Friday morning until a Sunday night (or possibly Monday) - would be nice if it included golf as we both enjoy golfing.

Anyone have any suggestions as to where we can go??

No suggestions as I don't live anywhere near you but just wanted to say have fun planning your anniversary vacation!

Have you ever been to Frankenmuth Michigan? There are some nice hotels and restaurants there. It is heavy on the German theme though. There are some great golf courses nearby that are not expensive to play. It is also only 6 miles away from Birch Run Outlet mall. It is nice to expeirence staying there at least once. It is nice to stay at the Bavarian Inn Lodge as you can walk to everything.

We drove here www.cedargrove.on.ca Cedar Grove Lodge near Muskoka for our anniversary last year. We are not golfers, so I am not sure where the nearest golf would be, but the food was excellent, and there were canoes and boats to use, just a lovely atmosphere and we had a nice romantic cabin with a fireplace and jacuzzi tub (and it didn't break the bank). We also spent a day to drive through Algonquin which was very nice. The resort even made us a picnic lunch to take with us!

:thumbsup2

The Ben Miller Inn in Goderich looks really nice. I'm dying to stay there for my anniversary. We camp every year at the Falls Reserve Cons. Area next to it, but we've never stayed at the Inn yet. I think there's a couple of courses nearby too.

Visit the world famous 1000 islands! Take in a cruise, theater play, casino, visit Kingston- Old Fort Henry, and great shopping downtown! The 1000 island skydeck is also a short drive away, plus Alexandria Bay U.S. is lovely to wander around.
