I went off the pill in September. DH & I have been TTC ever since. I am now at day 38 as far as my "friend" is concerned. I took a test last night and it was negative. I am so disappointed and upset. :( I was on the pill for about 11 years, now i regret it. Any reassuring words would be greatly appreciated!

I was on the pill for 10 years...went off and it was a year before I got pregnant. I was charting and tracking and temping and all the rest. Finally I "gave up" and was heading to the dr to start testing for infertility....I got pg that month!

give it some time.. just hang in there.

As hard as it is, try not to let yourself get stressed over this. Stress can have a real affect on TTC. It's only been 2 months which isn't much time.

I went off for 6 months- it takes some time. Have you tried the ovulation sticks? They helped us- I wanted a summer maternity leave and DS was born July 1st!

Relax, you went off in September, it mid November........ even someone who never took the pill can take just as long or longer. Timing is everything.

The key is to relax and try not to worry about it.

Your body needs to find it's cycle after being regulated for so long. Give yourself more time {{hugs}}.

I was on the pill for about 11 years, stopped due to migraines, and started TTC about 2 months later. I started it for PCOS, so getting pregnant was a bit of a challenge, but the doctors told me it had nothing to do with how long I was on the pill for.

An average couple, with no medical issues, apparently takes up to a year to get pregnant.

Good luck!

Jen

Definitely give it some time, two months is really not that long at all. It took us 10 mo. with our 1st, 6 mo. with our 2nd, and 2 mo. with our 3rd (I was really shocked at how quickly that happened). Just relax, don't stress over it.

Well, it's been 12 years since my first pregnancy, but I do remember the dr. telling me to wait 3 months after stopping the pill to try to conceive to get my cycles in order. I got a positive pregnancy test two months after starting to try (missing the third period). I felt the same way as you when I had that second period and wasn't pregnant. Don't worry, like Jen said, it can take up to a year. As much as it seems everyone gets pregnant so easily around you, it really takes a lot of coordination of factors to do it.

Don't worry. :grouphug:

That's exactly it! 3 of my friends just found out they're pregnant and due in May of '07. 1 wasn't even trying, 1 got pregnant the 1st month of trying and another had issues, so it took them over 2 years...but it just seems like everywhere i look people are either pregnant or have just recently had babies. i hate to feel like this. i know it will happen for us, i just thought it would be right away. i am not a patient person, as you can all tell...

It can take a while for your period to return after going off the pill. Most women get their first period within 3 months of stopping, but it can take even longer than that. If you get too impatient, you can always ask your doctor to give you provera to jump-start your cycles. Good luck!

Come join us on the TTC thread. There is lots of good information and support there.

Try testing first thing in the morning, it is when your pregnancy hormone levels are most concentrated. I got several negative test results before I got a positive one with Hannah.

Good luck.

I tested at 38 days out too, if I had just waited 2 more days I would have seen a different result! Take it again in a few days, in the morning. Good luck!
