cricut or wishblade? which is better. i read another thread and they said there was a cricut for $185.00. i called and they said i could order it. then i went on and googled wishblade. its $499.00. but is it better? i have to let the woman know today if i want to order the cricut!

any suggestions????

I don't have either, but if money were no object I'd have the Wishblade! From what I've read about it, there are no additional purchases to make since you use downloaded fonts & there are forums where people share images they've done etc.

I just read someone's review of the Cricut on another site...I hope she doesn't mind me posting what she said (but she's not around to ask)...

Basically, it works likes this: You insert the font cartridge and place on the keyboard mat. When you turn the machine on, you can adjust the blade depth, cutting speed, and size of letters. A sticky mat provides the cutting surface, and it slides front to back inside the machine. It takes 6"x12" paper.

So far, I really like it. I think it will end up being worth the money. I figured the easiest way to give a review woudl be a pro/con list:

PROS:
1. Very easy to set up and get started
2. The actual cutting time is very quick
3. Each font prints a variety of shapes too (lots of choices from one font)
4. A little heavy, but still portable
5. Blade knows where it stops, so you can print multiple phrases on the same sheet without overlap

CONS:
1. Price of font cartridges
2. I can tell that I will have to replace the mats often, because they become unsticky and paper won't stay on them
3. Having to cut paper to 6x12
4. Paper was difficult to peel off sticky may until I bought a "scraper"

I have a Wishblade but truthfully haven't done much with it except linked words. My DH bought it for me since it didn't require extra purchases like the Cricut. I truely love it so far and have seen some great things online that people have been able to make it do. One of these days I'll figure it all out. LOL
