I want to try to start a small home based business but can not come up with an idea. Any suggestions??

It all depends on what you want to do. Do you have any special skill sets? Are you crafty? Like to sew? Creative? If your going to start a business at home from the ground up you need to be passionate about what you are doing, or at least enjoy doing it. The best way to start is to figure out what you do best or what you like to do best and then maybe ask for input on how you can turn that into a business. ;)

For example, I love photography, but didn't want to step away from my family and work around other peoples schedules to become a photographer. I am also super creative, love colors, have a good eye for design, and am a perfectionist. I took my love for photography (and the fact many of my friends were in the business) and created a photo jewelry/gifts business using the rest of my skill sets and my passion for working with beautiful images (even if they aren't my own). I am now approaching my 5th year, and don't see the light of day from mid Nov. until Dec 17th (my final ship date of the season), but the rest of the year the business works beautifully around my family schedule and allows me to pull in a nice income and do all the things a SAHM wants to.

Yes gotta have a passion an a love for what you doing and a market I used to make candy for all the holidays halloween christmas valentines day an easter it worked well until my mother retired an was not my delivery person anymore so I lost my marketing outlet.

At 1st I sent in samples of what I was making mom took orders before work an druing lunch I filled the orders she delivered worked really well until mom retired I was ready for a break at that time too as I had a baby an thought I'd pick it back up once baby was older but I never found a reliable person to take orders an deliver candy an bring me back the money.

BTW I started my little candy biz with less than 25.00 I usually made 2,500 at christmas an easter an about 1,500 halloween an valentines day. By taking orders I never had leftovers I could not sell. I did all the candy in my kitchen had a locked room to store it in to keep kids out of it till it was delivered.

I used to bake and sell my cookies at Christmas thru the people at work and did well. I just started a new job so I'm not sure how it might go over, but if you do bake, make a bunch of goodies and bring in a platter. Just put a note on it that says "Please help yourself. If you are interested in placing an order, call __________."

Thanks for the ideas. I din't want to get into selling make-up or anything like that. Unfortunately I am not very crafty, but hubby is. We have put our heads together and just can't seem to come up with something that is right for us. I was hoping to get some good ideas from you guys that I could run with. So far so good, but the baking would be hard for me...we would eat it before it got sent out. lol :rotfl2:
Please keep coming with the ideas. I would like to try to get started with something just after the first of the year.
