Need some ideas for covering an album

I bought 4 inexpensive 6 X 6 albums for autograph books and I'm not crazy about the covers. I'm thinking about decorating them, but I'm looking for ideas. Should I use scrapbook paper and modge podge? Will that hold up? Any other ideas???
