We just got back from a wonderful 11 day stay at Disney. Next year though I would like to incorporate SeaWorld, Universal etc. Does anyone know if there are buses or coaches that would pick you up in Disney and take you to SeaWorld etc. ? Thanks....

Yes, Mears Transportation will pick you up from your hotel and drop you off. You need to call Mears the day before you are planning to go to the park of your choice and set up a pick up time from your hotel. You can also at the time of booking, let them know when you'd like to get picked up from the theme park. Or you can call 2 hours before you're planning to leave the park to let them know that you'd like to get picked up.

Mears' phone number is 407.423.5566. When we went last September, cost of round trip transportation was $16.

Yes...as mentioned, Mears is the best way to get from Disney to other places in Orlando. The round trip on the shuttles are usually $18.00 per person but you can check the website for more information. You usually have to make arrangements 24 hours in advance.

:scared1: with a family of 4, I am beginning to think that a taxi might be our cheapest option for reliable transportation ("reliable"/"cheapest" meaning no Lynx bus ;)...) at $18 per person with Mears, that is close to $80.00.
Is that $18 a return trip? I heard taxi costs around $25.00 for the 10 mile trip to DC. What would those of you who have done it recommend?
Our day at DC is Labour Day Monday...looking forward to a break from the DW crowds that holiday Monday :)

That's $18.00 round trip not one way but it depends on if you take the shuttles or the private cars. The shuttles are the cheapest way to go from these options. If you check their website, there is a fare estimator for the cabs. The estimated fare from Epcot (just to get an idea) to Sea World is $23.65 each way which is still cheaper than the shuttle.

I agree...it certainly seems the taxi would be cheapest for a family of 4....we'd be going from AKL, and I believe the estimated cost was around $25.00 each way...so it seems a bit cheaper round trip.

I'm not sure if there are any rates for children with Mears, so that might be worth looking at as well.

If not, taxi seems to be the more economical choice for getting to Seaworld for a family of 4.

Good luck :)

Will Mears take you directly to SW or will they make multiple stops on the way? If I arrange for a ride I want to get there before the park opens and not get there an hour after opening.

I would call them and ask...some shuttles make stops but not sure about Mears.

Yes, the Mears shuttle buses do make stops. When you call and set up a pick up time from your hotel, you can ask them approximately what time you will be arriving at SW. If your intention is to get there before the park opens, it shouldn't be a problem. Just tell them that and they'll recommend a time for pick up so that you make it in time before the park opens. I've done this myself and I didn't encounter any problems.
