So I have these wonderful DISigns that were made for me, the ones I printed on white have turned out, but the expensive dark transfer paper has jammed EVERY SHEET in my printer. so right now I have used 5 sheets and have no shirts to show for it. Does anyone have any ideas? I followed the directions so can I get a refund or something? TIA! I really am so excited about making these shirts (That I already pulled tags off of and washed!)

I am no computer expert by any means, but I can sense you are a tad flustered. In the print options menu are you selecting the "iron on paper" option?:confused3 This step is important to let the printer know what type of paper you are using. This was a rookie mistake I made when I first started printing. Beyond that without you describing in detail the steps you are using and what program you are using to print it's hard to diagnose your problem:cutie:

Be careful, I believe if you choose iron on paper - it may automatically flip your design. If you are using dark transfer paper - you do NOT want to flip the design first.

One tip: (and I am not sure if you are doing this already) Only put one piece of transfer paper in at a time. Sometimes it helps to be sure it is feeding correctly and that it is only grabbing one piece at a time.

Let us know how it turns out for you.

so sorry to hear you're having problems. What brand and model printer are you using? It IS an ink jet right? are you feeding just one page through at a time? the more you can tell us about how you're doing this, the easier it'll be to perhaps be able to help you.

also, please post back when you figure out what the problem seems to be!

Thank you for your help! With the boards going down for the weekend and a business trip I was on the last 2 days I have not had access to these answers. Here is what I know, I have an inkjet epson photo printer. I was using HP paper. I did only use one sheet at a time and did choose the right type of paper option. The issue seemed to be something with the glossy/slipperyness of both sides of the page made the printer not feed the paper right. It would grab it crooked, then jam and keep printing making a HUGE ink waste and mess (ink for my printer is like $20-25 per color... UGH!!!) then it made the printer all inky inside so that when I tried to run something else through about an hour later it left ink marks all over it. This happened 5 times! I guess I wanted some expert opinion on if it was worth it to try any more with my printer or give up... or do I need to see if my parents will work? Anyhow, thanks again!

Hmmm, I'm no expert but I did use a LOT of HP transfers on my HP printer w/o a problem. I'm wondering if the transfer paper has in some way been warped (not necessarily by you of course). Is it flat as a pancake or does it have some waviness to it? My experience has been when I tried to "reuse" the other side of regular copy paper after it had been through the printer once (not transfer paper) then my HP was very sensitive to the fact that it had been "warped" a tad and would behave just like your Epson!

Could be you just were unfortunate enough to get a bad batch from HP but that would be very unusual so I'd trouble shoot some more before calling them.

Did you check to see that the rollers on the printer are clean and balanced (not weighted more on one side or the other, don't have something interfering to cause it to be a little lopsided or a piece of paper jammed somewhere in the printer that wasn't removed before you started printing transfers).

BTW, interesting that you describe both sides as shiny. For my dark transfers, one side of the HP paper is blank and the other side has a little bit of light HP logo & some other writing on it (i.e., ironing time)... not shiny on both sides. (Are you using dark transfers or light????)

If everything looks in place, I'd give HP support a call and see what troubleshooting steps they recommend before you burn through any more transfer paper.

Good luck and post back what you discover!

Thanks, I tried a different brand last night and it worked, so I am not sure what happened, maybe just as you said, a "bad batch" or something. Anyhow... I guess both sides are not SHINY, however they are both "slippery" I guess I think about glossy photo paper, one side is rougher and the other is the glossy. With the transfer paper it seems both are so smooth and slippery that it made me wonder. Thanks!

I would still go back to HP and tell them what happened, they might just want good customer relations and give you a fresh batch of transfers - especially if you offer to ship back the tattered transfers.

Glad you got something to work; I know how frustrating it is when technology traps us like a bug under glass and we can't get out of it!
