In late July or early Aug my best friend and I are traveling w/our kids ..age range 13-6 to stay a couple of nights at Universal..

Which hotel and pool is better suited for kids? We need two rooms because there will be 8 of us.(I doubt there is one room large enough for us) Where do I sign up for the hotel cards for perks?

THanks!!

You sign up for the Loews card at www.loewsfirst.com

As for the pools - the bonus of staying at Universal is that it is not only allowed, but encouraged to pool hop. And all three of the on-site resorts are either walking distance or a short boat ride apart from each other.

All the pools are great - you really can't go wrong. All of them have movie night and you can rent cabanas at all of them. (Except for the little pool at Portofino).

Royal Pacific is the largest of the pools (I think) but does not have a slide. It does have an interactive play area with water guns, etc. and a volleyball net. Has great food and beverage service via Bula.

Hard Rock's pool is very active, has a slide and has music underwater. Lots of pool side activities and games. Has great food and beverage service via Beach Club.

Portofino has 3 pools. One pool is way at the end of the east wing and is a small oval pool. It is a bit of a walk back to the piazza if you want to get a drink or something.

The other two pools are pretty much in the center of the resort and you can walk between them. The beach pool has the slide. You can order food and drinks at both pools, but it closes down around 5 - 6 depending on the time of year.

I think either the Hard Rock or the Royal Pacific would be fun for the kids. Go to the Loews website to sign up for the card.
