Was looking in the guide books and noticed they were saying it was about an hour (sometimes more) to get to DTD from most resorts or parks. They also had very long bus rides for getting to/from the water parks. Is this really the case?:confused3

We've been fortunate to stay at POFQ before and the boat ride was a very pleasant way to get to DTD. i don't think even waiting for a boat the ride took more than 30mins.

This trip we're at ASMo and I'm concerned about the length of time i need to account to get to these two places. Actually, we're thinking of going from ASMo...to Typhoon Lagoon...then to DTD..before heading back to our hotel. Will this be miserable? Anyone know a site that charts these times?

TIA!:goodvibes

The boatride from POR to DTD is quite nice. It is much shorter than taking a bus. Whenever I have to get to DTD, or a water park, I usually figure on about 30-40 minutes. If I get to my resort bus stop just as the bus is leaving, it could take another 20 mins before the next one comes along, especially for DTD. But, once on the bus it's usually no more than 25 mins to anyplace on-site from any of the resorts. Or, perhaps I've just been lucky.

For the most part, I think that's true. Our exprience has been that 2 things can cause exceptions:

1- Other stops your bus is making. We usually stay at the BW, and it shares busses with the Swan, Dolphin, Yacht, and Beach, depending on the route. So we have had trips that took 45 minutes to an hour (including wait time).

2- Peak periods, like park closings. For example, we've been in water parks when they were closed early for inclement weather, and MAN was that a nightmare. Took us about 2 hours to get from TL to the BW one time. We had to wait awhile for a bus, then it took it time to get out of the backed up parking lot, then the bus went to DTD, then we had to make 4 stops (S/D, Y&B) before getting to the BW.

We haven't stayed at the AS's though, so I'm not sure how their routes work.

Thank you both for the input. Sounds like a nightmare when you left due to inclement weather. Talk about adding to your troubles! yikes. But as they say, even a bad day at Disney, is better than a day at work!

Thanks again.

If I remember correctly, the bus route from All star to the water parks runs thru animal kingdom. i do know on the way back you are the last stop. So it could take a while. Be careful and I would allow some extra time.

I guess it all depends when you are going. We just went Jan 21-27 and that's a known low season. We never waited more than 15 minutes for a bus. Usually it was only 5-8 minutes getting from the resort to whereever. But 10 minutes while at the park going back to the resort. All but 2 times our bus went right from All Star Movies to whereever we were going. Never stopping at the other All Star. Going to MK is the longest bus ride, about 20 minutes. A few times the bus was full and we were standing but not that often. One time we waited about 20 minutes but we had chosen not to get on the bus that was pretty full. We were too tired to stand at the end of the night!

At "peak" time periods the All Stars will be seperate bus routes. Peak periods are usually closing times, after fireworks, etc. The All Stars can/will be combined during times where the demand is not great. SO if you want a bus to a park at 1:00pm, it may be combined with another resort.

To answer your question the best I can, your travel time will depend on time of day and your timing at the bus stops. To be on the safe side, I would plan for an hour and be happily surprised when it only takes 30 minutes.

Busses do not run on a set time but they do strive for no more than 15 minutes between busses. The same route may only take 15 minutes at one time of day and 45 minutes to an hour at another. It can depend on traffic, the amount of guests on a bus, the number of wheelchairs on a bus and how well a guest cooperates with the rules.

Typhoon Lagoon is always the Downtown Disney bus. Blizzard Beach is combined with one of the theme park buses.

MK and Epcot have extra space and changeable signs at the platform for separate versus shared buses for All Stars and Port Orleans depending on time. I think AK and MGM only have one berth for each of these groups.
