I booked with the AP rate today, saved $600 approx on our stay. Problem is, I don't have an AP - lol. I purchased 2 PHs (5 day) with my Airmiles a while ago (for DH and I - DS will turn 3 the last day we are there).

So the question is - do I buy the AP to save the $600, even if we probably won't be going in the next year and try and sell one PH I bought with Airmiles on ebay or something

OR

Do I wait to see what the room only codes are and if they are within a $100 or so just take the room only codes?

One more question - can I buy a child's AP and use that for the discount. I thought I had read here that as long as the AP holders name is on the ressie it is OK? Seems a bit strange to me but, you never know. Also, if this is OK, would it be weird to buy a kids AP even though DS will not be 3 until our last day?

A bit of help would really be appreciated.

I am doing the same thing.. I booked with AP rate but if the savings are close I will do room only, I will buy one just to get the savings tho, I think it is enough to justify it even tho I won't be back within the year.
I would buy an adult one the difference is only $57.00 and it is peace of mind that I won't be turned away if the CM decides that we need an adult pass.

I plan on phoning right at 7:00 to see what the difference will be. I used this calculator to see if it will be worth it for me. (I got it off mousesavers)

234 rack rate for your hotel
- 144 AP rate for your hotel*
x 100.35 1.115 (to add tax)**
x 7 number of nights
x 1 number of rooms
= 702.45 room rate savings
- 143.64 extra paid for one AP/PAP
= 558.81 net savings

Hope this helps!

I read in another post that a DIS'er was able to upgrade her 7 PHP that she got from Air Miles. So you might be able to do the same thing with the 5 day pass.

There are other discounts you can get with an AP so if you plan on using those too, it may be worth it for you. You can get discounts on shopping in DTD, tours and lunches in certain locations.

Typically the room-only rates for the public are only $5-6 more than the AP rates so I wouldn't buy an AP for the savings when you already have a PHP. The new codes start tomorrow so be sure to call right away. Have you checked out what's coming: DIS Discount Page

Good luck.

I just switched to room only today.. I ended up saving $63.91 after the cost of buying the AP more than the ap rate!
