We will only have one day in parks (MK) and it is this Friday when tropical storm is suppose to be in full swing. Not going to let a little rain dampen the Disney magic but I haven't been to WDW in 10 years and so I feel like I don't have a great handle on new rides so that I can plan accordingly. EMH is at 8am and provided it isn't raining cats and dogs would love to be there at opening. I have Fps…Space Mtn: 9:40, SDMT: 1:20, Splash Mt:3:35. Park is open til 7pm and we have no dining reservations in the park….figure we would play it by ear. My question is this, which rides should I try to get to for rope drop? Not sure which ones will have long lines later. we haven't ever ridden SDMT and so are excited to try that. Is it worth it to run right to that ride (so we would ride twice that day) or should I just wait until fP and get a bunch of other rides in. If so, which ones? I do remember it takes longer than you would think by looking at the map to get from one land to another. Also, if rain is heavy we will want to be indoors more than normal too. Thanks for any advice you can provide. We are beyond excited!

If it's not raining in the morning, go for the outdoor rides. Mine train, splash, jungle cruise if that's on your plan. Any outdoor fantasyland ride as well if you want to do them (dumbo, barnstormer).

Good luck

7DMT is the longest line ( just about al ways) at MK since it is the newest all so it is out side ride ( most of it) and if there is any thunder about it will be closed I would do this ride at Rdop if you think it will be raining when your FP is

a few other things bring a poncho ( do not use an umbrella AKA lighting rod when it is thundering out)

water shows or sandel maybe bring another pair of close if you get really wet.

and have fun the parks tend to be less crowded when it rains

Don't have much advice since I've never been in the rain. I'd say explore Main Street and the buildings in Town Square. Do inside meet and greets for Mickey, the princesses, the circus tents in Fanatsyland if you like characters. There are a lot of inside rides so it should keep you busy. If it were my family, I think we'd switch the Splash FP for a Peter Pan one and do Splash as standby.

I imagine it will be incredibly uncrowded that day with rain plus the early close for the party that night.

Thanks for advice! atykay, is your suggestion to switch Splash FB for Peter Pan because you think there will be a bigger line for Peter Pan? I know Splash is one of DS's favorite rides so didn't want to miss it.

We'll be right there with you. We arrive Wed night but have a little flexibility as to whether to go on Thursday or Friday, still in the rain of course. Hope the rain is warm?!

Being an indoor ride, I'd probably want a later Space FP+ so that you can hopefully get in as many outdoor rides as possible early in the day

If there is nearby lightening then all outdoor rides usually close.

Peter Pan's line is always so long (like an hour+) and will probably be busier during a rainy day. I'd expect Splash's line to be more manageable. Of course it will probably be fairly empty at the park regardless. And if it does lightning, Peter Pan won't be shut down whereas splash will be.
