My family is planning a disney trip Dec 19-Jan 3. This is going to be our longest stay at the world yet. We got a price of 166 a night at the CSR, Cont 266, poly 333. We have stayed at both the poly and the cont and enjoyed the convenience of the monorail and boat service. Our stay at the WL was less than magical. Bus service was very poor. Are we short changing ourselves by trying a new hotel at one of the busiest times of the year just to try a new hotel. What would you reccomend?

I would base my descision on 1.) what I could & should afford, and then 2.) since it is over the christmas holiday's where I would want to spend the holiday's. If a certain theming is important or being in a certain location (monorail & / park) is important then go by that. We have stayed at many of the resorts that are on the bus system, but that is not always a bad thing, learn your way around the bus system. ie: beat the crowd to the line or take your time leaving the parks and walk back not hurrying etc... , If you've rented a car use it, you can park free at any wdw park if staying on property!

Decide which resort is the one you all prefer! Polynesia? Contempary? Coronado Springs? Maybe you could split a stay just in case? :)

Good luck, MKY :D

Well one way to look at the dependence on bus transportation is that by staying a longer time you may not feel as rushed to make every minute count so bus delays or just the added time it takes will not be so bad.

The flip side is if it really bugs you then thats a long time to put up with it.

I have not stayed at CSR but drove all the way around the outside loop on a bus trip back to BWI from somewhere (DTD?), it seemed very spread out, maybe 5 bus stops!:D

We stayed at AKL and GF 12/27-1/4 and though I like AKL more, I thought the GF was much more convenient. I know others this AKL has great bus service, but it was far from that during our 4 night stay, 12/27-12/31. We never waited less than 20 minutes for a bus (our usual wait was about 30 minutes), and several times we waited over 50 minutes for a bus!!! These 50 minute waits were at different times of the day, so I can't say mornings were better than evenings. (In fact, we arrived at MGM on NYE at park opening, which was 8am for general public, though we were waiting for the bus since 6:35--it was not only NYE, but an EE day for MGM so we planned to be there a little past 7--imagine the mobs fighting to get through the gates at park opening for fear the park would close it's gates!!)

When we switched to GF on 12/31, we immediately saw a change. The buses were so much better and the monorail made things so convenient. The Poly would have been even better as we would not have had to transfer monorails to get to Epcot.

We have also stayed at CSR and it is huge! It's a great resort, but I'd go with a monorail hotel during that busy time of year as it made a huge difference in our trip.

Hi there...

166.00 is an excellent price for a christmas/new years stay... 266.00 is not bad either... considering it is peak time..

I have not heard of any transportation problems at CSR... 100.00 a night over contemportary is a big savings...

Good luck and let us know what you decide.

Thank you all so much for your help. Haven't decided what to do yet...but am leaning towards splitting the stay.
