One of my co-workers recently found out that her husband needs a liver transplant. While he is waiting for the transplant, he also has to start injections for Hepatitis C. The transplant will be covered 100% by our insurance, which is excellent. However, until he gets the transplant, he has to have injections for the Hepatitis C, and they are covered under our drug policy. To make a long story short, her out of pocket every month for the injections will be $2000 (20% of the cost).
My question is this, does anyone know of any organizations that will help people out with medical bills? Luckily, when I went through my cancer, we had an endowment fund at our church that covered any uncovered expenses. She says they can swing it for a bit, but there is a possibility of him needing these injections for a year or more.
Any help would be appreciated. I just want to be able to ease her mind.
