Hi,
I have been reading this board for about a week now, there is a lot of great information here.

I was wondering if anyone had some input on where I could find some of the trading pins for Walt Disney World. I think my 3.5 year old would really enjoy doing this while we are there. I have been searching for them on ebay and of course keep getting outbid.. are there any other sources that you have used to get them and not spent a fortune? Please share..Do you think 10-15 pins would be enough to start with? Would less be OK? This is his first trip and I want it to be great!!

Thank you in advance

Most of my pins (about 90%) I have gotten from eBay. I've made a lot of stupid mistakes in bidding wars :sad2: and then I realized most sellers have the same pins in their on-line store as a buy it now option....sometimes it ends up being cheaper doing it that way. :cheer2: ...I think that would be plenty of pins to start with. When are you going?

We are going mid-September. So I have some time to find some pins, but want to start now so I will be ready when it's time to go. I don't really think it will matter to him as to what pins he has, but I think he will really like the idea of trading what he has. It is always interesting to me as to what he will give you.

We're taking our kids for their first trip this year too, and I know they'll love pin trading (but I can't spend that much on pins in the parks). I found a few good lots on Ebay. I wasn't too picky as to what pins were included, so that helped, but they are all authentic Disney pins. I think they ended up being about $2 each. It was about 50 cents per pin more in the BIN option. Each of my kids will start out with 8-10 pins, then they can trade the ones they don't want to keep. If they want to buy more in the parks, they can do so with their own money...I got them started! Let me know if you find a better source then Ebay! :)

The seller's name was Disneyfan06. I can't remember if there were caps or not on the user name. I don't know too much about pins, so I don't know if there are better choices (probably) but this seller was honest and fast in my experience. Good luck! :thumbsup2

I just checked and most recently I made alot of pin bids on eBay with seller
cgary1119 his name is Charles very nice man and feedabck over 8,100

unfortunately his bin prices are about $8 but alot of his pins are about $4. so you can always wait unitl last minute and snipe...he ships fast combines ship price and all have arrived MINT if you deal with him tell him Ruthie marinemom says Hi!

I have also been interested in possibly introducing my kids to pin trading so I always read pin trading threads. There is a Disney pin trading website that has tons of great information (http://www.dizpins.com/). If you go to the boards I think there is a pins for sale section and you can find a number of sellers who are offering pins at great prices. I haven't bought any yet so I have no first hand experience to share. Good luck!

A few times a year, the Disney Store online has a pin sale. That's when I stock up. I buy several sets and split those up and use them for trading at WDW. When you average out the cost of a pin from the set on sale, they're pretty cheap, plus you know you're getting the real thing.

MattMatts-Momma,

Here are my tips (for what they are worth). I am new to the pin trading also, but luckily discovered in time to be able to be picky about the pins I've bought. So here's my 2cents. Don't know if it will help or is even the best ideas. :confused3

1) Go to ebay when you have time to be on the computer for a while and do a search for disney pins. Don't look at ANY ending within 30 - 45 minutes. Skip ahead to at least 30 minutes to give you time to browse.

2) Begin looking at those pins. I right click the link to open an auction and choose open in new window/tab so that I can keep my original screen open, but that's just a preference.

3) When you find a pin that you think is cheap enough (by whatever standards you want, I differ mine depending on how long it's been since payday. :rotfl: ), mark it to watch and then look at what else the seller has. There's a link in the top right hand corner of the listing that says, "View seller's other items"

4) Pick you out a few favorite sellers that have auctions ending soon and try to buy just from them for that particular sit down time. You may find an occasional great deal as a one purchase type thing, but I've found that the way I've been able to get the best deals is buying a few from the same person within the same period. Almost everyone will combine shipping (look for this in the posting) and so the deal gets better.

**Be sure to not checkout for one pin if you do this, contact the seller for a combined invoice. Lots will not go back and give you the reduced rate if you checkout for an individul item.

**If the seller has some others that you are interested in that end in a few days, contact them (before paying also). Many will let you combine shipping for 3 - 7 days. That gives you time to gather a lot from one person.

**Another thing I do is when I find what looks like a seller I like, I made sure to save the seller to my favorites (I do this for anything on ebay) that way I will remember and check them each time I'm looking for something similiar. I know have about 5 sellers of disney stuff on my favorite sellers/store list. :)

**Remember these are for TRADING. I find that the not so cute ones go for cheaper and since I want my daugther to learn to trade, these are better than cuter ones of characters she likes. I know her; she'll keep those not trade them. ;)

Good luck and hope this helps. I know that this is the system I've used since I started making these plans in February and I've gotten about 15 - 20 for my daughter now, and I don't think I've paid more than about 4 dollars max for any of the pins after you take the total that I spent with one seller and divide by the number of pins. (well except for two that I bought for her to keep that were just special ones, like a bday one)

Disneyshopping.com has an Incredibles pin in the outlet for 2.99. I bought one each for my DD's to keep and two for each of them to trade. There are several codes right now for Disneyshopping.com (check Mousesavers), but I don't know how many work in the outlet. I bought them with 25% off a while back and got them each for 2.24. You can try the code MATEY for 10% off and see if that works.

Disneyshopping.com also offers free shipping of some pins on Mondays. I bought some during the sale in February and got free shipping as well. I'm not sure when the next sale will be, but you might check out the prices. I know they have a Lion King pin for 4.95 - not sure if that one has free shipping on Mondays or not.

Edited to correct typos (hopefully all of them)

I got mine on ebay too. I bought only in larger (6+) lots, it came out cheaper that way then to just buy one or two pins. I figured they were going to be traded anyway, so the kids would get the ones they really wanted. I don't think I ever paid more than $3-$4 per pin buying in lots.

Also, a tip I got here I think... I put 2 pins under each of their pillows before the kids woke up in the mornings (didn't want them sleeping with them there all night, but they were always still conked out in the mornings when I got up) and we said that Tinkerbell left them there. They were so excited each morning!!
