It has come to the 45 day mark and I have to pay the full balance on my package. If a code comes out and I am able to apply it, they are telling me it will cost me $50 in addition to any applicable fees that might come up. We have the dream maker with silver add on (no transfers or airfare etc). Can anyone clarify restrictions, fees to make changes to a pkg after you've paid for it in full?
Will I be able to make any changes?

With the package I think they are telling you the truth. Plus if a room only code or other discount comes out you cannot apply it to a package. The only code you might be able to apply is one for a package.

Pretty much once you pay you are set on the package. I have heard of changes, but it is a big hassle.

If I were you I would call either your TA or Disney and get the facts. That is pretty much the only way to get the facts.

That said at 45 days out it sounds like you are going in September? I think the discounts are out for that know. There is a rumor that there will be a package discount in October but no proof.

Its' not the fact that you are paid in full, it's the fact that you are inside of 45 days.

The WDTC (which is who packages are booked through) have different change/cancellation policies than CRO has.

Any changes made inside of 45 days that cause the reservation to DECREASE in price are subject to a $50 change fee. In addition if you are closer to travel dates and you documents have been printed there is an additional $10 document fee.

If you make changes that INCREASE the cost of your package (say a discount comes out and you want to upgrade to a nicer resort and it is slightly more expensive) then they will waive the $50 change fee.

If you cancel inside if the 45 days but more than 6 days out you will only lose $100. 5 days or less and you lose $200.

So if a lower rate comes out you need to make sure that it is low enough to justify the $50 change fee.

AND--this is just my opinion--I think Disney is purposefully waiting to release package discounts until closer to travel dates for this very reason. It will discourage people from changing to the discount because they are inside of 45 days. Again, that is strictly my opinion of this since they have done it for the last 2 discout cycles (August and September)

I hope this helps.

You know SueEllen-that makes sense! I think you are 100% correct about waiting until closer to dates to release codes for the very reason you stated.
