Hello all

I am planning a trip with my friend and we would like to know a few things

1.) how bad is the bug situation?
2.) Can we fit three tents on a site? (one is small)
3.) does anybody know how big the sites are?
4.) what is the best way to figure out the cost for both families?
5.) would a tabletop fridge keep things cold while we are at the parks?
6.) what about security at the campground? When you leave to go to the parks

Thanks all

Hello all

I am planning a trip with my friend and we would like to know a few things

1.) how bad is the bug situation?

The bugs are well controlled at Fort Wilderness, but I would bring some repellent for the evenings just in case.

2.) Can we fit three tents on a site? (one is small)

Yes you can
3.) does anybody know how big the sites are?

It really varies from site to site. I would say a mininum of 18x25 in sand area. Be sure and request Loop 2000. That loop has the largest sites and are well designed for multiple tents.

4.) what is the best way to figure out the cost for both families?

Make a reservation, get the total cost, divide by number of people per night then split up. For example, 3 nights at $50 per night = 150 total. Family 1 is 4 people, family 2 is 5 people, total of of 9 people. 150 divided by 9 = $16.67
Family 1 - 16.67 *4 = $66.68 - Family 2 - 16.67*5 = 83.35

5.) would a tabletop fridge keep things cold while we are at the parks?
Yep

6.) what about security at the campground? When you leave to go to the parks

Carry anything truly valuable on your person or lock it in your vehicle when you leave the campsite. Other stuff such as camping equipment, clothing, etc, should be fine

Thanks all

Hope this helps!!!

This is just my .2 cents worth..
1. my oct trip I hung one bug coil in my tent, used no spary and not one bite, love bugs were all over but they dont bite and I think they are a seasonal thing

2. maybe but they would have to be small. I had a 19 x 12 tent and a 10 x 10 canopy and it was pretty full

3. it's rumored and I believe that the 2000 loop is slightly roomier than the rest, from looking at the loops I think it just varies

4. no clue on that one, keep in mind there is a limit on the number of people per sight.. the number 10 sticks in my mind but I'm not sure..

5. I used one of those plug in coleman coolers for my "fridge" it was light weight and worked great for me

6. I personally had no issues and I didnt secure my tent or canopy when we were at the parks, however a lady close to us said someone took a jacket and some shoes from her site.. i have my own theories about that one.. :rotfl2:

I'm new at camping but this is how I saw things
:cool2:

Here is a picture of site 2020 with three tents.

That is all on the sand pad, so you could even put another kitchen shelter over the driveway also.

If you camp near Memorial Day, watch for the yellow flies. They are the only real bugs that bother me. Repellent will do the trick for the rest.
